2013 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

I'm convinced that whoever made this 80's style "Space Jays" video is a genius.

They should be sending Romero to the minors and putting Happ in the rotation.

If he can't pull it together before the start of the season, I think they will option RR to AAA, assuming they still can.

I think they want to see what they have in Romero in the majors before making a move with him, since they've got more invested in him.

That, and if he regains his form this season, he's clearly the better pitcher of the two.

Not looking good for Romero at all again today. I think we need to "Halladay" him and assign him all the way down to "A" ball and see if he can work is way up. Until he does, I don't think we can count on him contributing to the Jays any time soon. - He got rocked by the Pirates Class A-team today BTW.

Oh boy. Not good at all. I assume he has one more start before the opener and if he can't come through really really strong, I think they have no choice but to option him down and keep Happ who has been great.

They can't start the season with Romero throwing pills down the middle and getting blown out every 5th game.  It's bad for the team and it's really bad for him.

There's some chatter that he should get a small chance with the Jays to start but if it's me and with what's invested in this team, he wouldn't get it. Like I said, I'd start him in A ball.

Worth noting Romero's 2011 Spring Training ERA was 7.91 and he went on to have a 2.92 ERA in the regular season?

In what year? His regular season ERA last year couldn't have been 2.92. Is that career?

If he got shelled in a Class-A game though, that could expidite the demotion process in a big hurry.

Not really. This time it's obvious there's a bunch of things wrong with him. I think a complete reboot is in order.

No, not worth noting at all, imo. Romero has a 6 era last year and couldn't throw a strike. He has not just been destroyed this ST, but he still can't throw strikes and his velocity is down. A single A team knocked him around in 2 and 1/3 innings, where he walked 5. He is a complete mess right now; it's nothing like 2011 ST (where he was coming off a season with a sub 4 era).

It's too late, I already noted it.

It's Spring Training. It means just about as much as pre-season hockey. I really don't care how badly he got shelled today.
