2016 Lead up to the Trade Deadline thread

Every year when Bozak goes on his little streaks making him look good I feel like he should be dealt and then he inevitably gets hurt and either regresses back to the norm or doesn't play a full season.  He's on IR now, wonder how many more games he gets into this season.

Ya to bad about the Bozak injury, I am almost certain he would have been moved.  The only other one I am certain of is Polak (with maybe Lupul thrown in) and we take back a bit of bad contract money for short term only.

I would hate to see Riemer go, much prefer Bernier to be gone. Would like to see Riemer and Bibeau next year: http://www.thestar.com/sports/leafs/2016/02/11/antoine-bibeau-draws-inspiration-from-leaf-goalies-of-the-past.html

Ladd situation:  According the the Lawless tweet in this TSN article, the Jets had $6m X 6 on the table at one point.

Ah, Palmateer.  One of my favourites, too.  :)

Reimer and Bibeau would be ideal IMHO.  I don't think Bernier is ever going to pan out for us long term.

my son came up with this one and I kind of like it,  we win the lottery, we trade Matthews to AZ for Strome and AZ second pick. Strome comes home and Matthews goes home as well.
Strome was defenitly one of the best players at the WJC and was Canada's best player.

That return is a bit low, although the idea of homecomings for both Matthews and Strome have storyline appeal.

Says Anaheim looking for scoring, so how about JVR for one of those defensemen?

Vatanen please.

But I kind of want to deal JvR to Chicago for Teravainen + Rundblad + Salary Dump.

Include TVR in there for the luls.

Dreger just said that Lindback might be done for the season. Arizona's sitting one spot out of the playoffs in the West, I'd imagine ownership would love to get some of that sweet, sweet playoff revenue. Could be a good Reimer-option.

Maybe. Them actually signing him seems pretty unlikely though and I wonder if you wouldn't do better trading him that both wants him in the long term as well.

Possibly, but, at the very least, having multiple teams looking to upgrade in net is a good thing for the Leafs.

Mike Smith's been pretty average (at best) the last few years in the number 1 role, trying to transition to more of a 1A/1B system with Reimer might actually be good for them. The only problem I'd see is that they might not be interested in spending $8-9mil on goaltending. Either way, with Lindback out and being so close to the playoffs they'll be pretty desperate I'd imagine.

Yeah, that was my only point. I'd figure whatever back-up/1B option they go with would have to be cheap

I don't see the Leafs acquiring as much as I thought they would at the trade deadline. At the start of the season with all these expiring contracts they looked poised to cash in at deadline time. No Leaf has been a huge surprise and played themselves into highly sought after commodity. I see only lower picks coming our way unless we trade Komarov. Does anyone see how we could get a 1st or 2nd. Maybe Bozak or Parenteau for a 2nd?

I'm assuming Kadri, Reilly, JVR and Gardner are unavailable.

Parenteau getting a low 2nd wouldn't surprise me. Reimer too. Polak might as well.

Yeah, I don't think we'll be getting a first from anyone for a rental, but I don't think a 2nd for Bozak or Parenteau is out of the question.
