Bieksa "super man punch"... really? Reminds me of Achillies in that movie Troy when jump stabs the big guy.

This just solidifies how ridiculous staged NHL fighting is. Suspend these clowns for staged fighting.

As the board's resident wrestling nerd, the "Superman Punch" is the signature of move of (extremely lame) wrestler Roman Reigns.

That's why it's called that.  *adjusts glasses*

Is there anything in the rulebook that specifically states what is allowed in a hockey "fight"? I don't really think that there is, which opens the door to a lot of interesting possibilities. I want to see someone get Rock-Bottom'd.

I can't remember who it was, but there was an issue a couple years ago when an NHL enforcer whose "strikes" were MMA style forearms/elbows in his fights, and a lot of other players were taking exception to it.  So I suppose it's one of those things where there aren't any particular set of rules, but there is a "code" that people follow.

I imagine anything that would be determined to be intent to injure (beyond simple face-punching) would be warranted additional discipline. Still leaves the door open for a lot of stuff, though.

All the talk recently about how they need secondary scoring so badly fills me with so much joy. Hall would be tied for 1st on their team in scoring right now. Eberle tied for 2nd.

It's almost like trading their two top scoring wingers in back-to-back summer might not have been the best idea . . .

For all of the heat he got for the Hall-Larsson trade... at least Larsson is useful.  Still an awful trade.  The Eberle-Strome trade is going to be WORSE though.

An interesting graph determining GF in Western Conference.  Easily deduce the bottom teams:

"The team that drafted me has been nothing but clownshoes since I got here and I'd be one of the most sought after free agents ever if I got that far...I know, I'll sign a maximum length extension binding myself to them as soon as I possible can!"

The NHL is fast becoming a league where the Players are all about financial security and personal comfort while the NBA is a league where players make their decisions based on wanting to win.

LOL.

Hall and Eberle both recorded 2 goals and an assist last night.
