2018-2019 Toronto Raptors Thread: "In Kawhi (& Danny) We Trust!"

Raptors now 12 & 3 on the year.  Suffered their second straight home loss Wednesday night to Dwayne Casey's Detroit Pistons 106-104 ( at the last second).

Ex-coach Casey received a warm eelcome back in the city he once called home and had this to say of proudly having been part of the Raptors organizaton for so long (until his firing).

"I tried to help a lot of coaches across the country and in the city, brought them in, made them part of our program, the Canadian coaches."

?I said that when I first got here, to build basketball here in the country, it starts with the little coaches. I spent a lot of time with the bitty (ball) coaches ? trying to develop it. It?s big, basketball in Canada is at an all-time high. Some of the top players in this country and this city are being highly recruited and hopefully (I) had something to do with that and leave that little mark behind."

Whoo-hoo-hoo!  It feels so good to be numero uno.

The Raptors with the win tonight, 124-104 over the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta, own the best w/l record in the league at 15-4.

Minus Kawhi Leonard, Kyle Lowry continues to turn heads with a double-double performance.
Valenciunas, Siakam, and Ibaka were the other top point getters.

On a side note, congratulations go to former Raptor Vince Carter, on notching his 25,000th point of his NBA career.  That puts him at #26 on the all-time list.

Raptors blasted the Washington Wizards here at home last night 125-107 and are now 16-4 -- their best start in the club's history.

Kawhi Leonard with his 27 points and a double-double led the way alongside Kyle Lowry and the Raptors second unit, which included Anunoby, Wright, VanVleet, and Ibaka, all contributing points in the double digits.

Even though Golden State was missing Curry, Green and with Durant being a handful (51 points),  the Raptors persisted and prevailed both defensively and offensively.

Yes, great satisfying win.

U.S. sports media gushing over the Raptors & Leonard in  their victory over the Warriors, and the fact that Toronto's w/l record  is league best.

More than anything, Warriors-Raptors was a reminder that the NBA has never been better than it is right now. There has never been this much talent all over the league, the style is wide-open, highlights are readily available all over the world, and every few days there?s a new performance that will baffle anyone who?s paying attention... Best team  vs worst team and the best team wins again. Make that eight in-a-row for the 20-4  Raptors, as they sailed past the LeBron-less Cleveland Cavs 106-95.

No Kyle Lowry (back injury) but plenty of Kawhi, Green, VanVleet and Siakam, all contributing in double digits for the win.

I have to think that Lowry is pretty sick and tired of being asked about the DeRozan trade.

I know I'm tired of hearing about it.

Raptors beat Golden State without Kawhi and with Green dislocating JV's thumb.  Nice win.

Leonard with a career high of 45 points and Pascal Siakam with a career high 28 points including a double-double, powered the Raptors to a 122-116 victory over the Utah Jazz, in a New Year?s Day home game in Toronto.

The Raptors were missing both Jonas Valenciunas and Kyle Lowry, the latter out indefinitely (back/hip).

Raptors are currently 28-11 on the year, in second place in the Eastern Conference, two wins back of Gianni?s Antetokounmpo?s Milwaukee Bucks.  The Indiana Pacers are third, a few wins back of Toronto.

First  it was the win over Giannis whatshisname & the Eastern Conference leading Mikwaukee Bucks Saturday, 123-115.  A game that saw Leonard put up 30 points and Siakam with another career-best 30 points, plus excellent contributions from Ibaka (25) & VanVleet (21).  Total team effort.

Then, Sunday, in the second of back to back weekend games, the Raptors prevailed again, winning 121-105 here at home over the Indiana Pacers.

The Raptors, this time sans Kawhi, saw the return of Kyle Lowry whose 12 points on the night belied his overall efforts pivotal for the win.  Powell (23), Wright, and Monroe had strong performances from the bench, as did starters Green & VanVleet.

With these two wins Toronto is now back atop the Eastern Conference standings.  The Bucks are in second 1.0 GBL Raptors, with Indiana 2.5 GBL.  The Raptors have three wins more than the Bucks.

The lowly Atlanta Hawks give the Raptors a run for it, forcing Toronto to initiate a comeback 104-101 win in the last minutes of the game.

The two Ks -- Kawhi & Kyle -- ignited and drove the comeback.  Leonard with the steal that started a passing feeder system with the ball landing in Ibaka's hands for the go-ahead,  and Lowry with the pass that led Anunoby in an in-alone dunk for the insurance marker.

Former Raptor Vince Carter, who is attempting to set a career-long tenure in becoming among one of the oldest players in the league, received a warm ovation from the Toronto faithful.
