2018-2019 Toronto Raptors Thread: "In Kawhi (& Danny) We Trust!"

Welcome back, DeMar!

Fan favourite and former Raptor DeMar DeRozan felt the love of the city as he received several standing ovations as he and his San Antonio Spurs made their first trek to Toronto this season last night.

DeRozan finished witb 23 points but the Raptors emerged victoriohs with a 120-117 OT win.

Leonard, Siakam, & Lowry paced  Toronto, and it was Kawhi & Kyle who led the charge for the win in OT.

For DeMar, it was an emotional return to the city where he played for nine seasons -- from the start of his career in the NBA -- until the trade in the off-season last year that brought Leonard to Toronto.

They did it!  Raptors (officially) clinch playoff spot.

They're 3.0 GBL Milwaukee Bucks for top spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

Ibaka decks Chriss in Raptors 126-101 loss to the Cavs in Cleveland.

Lowry suffers twisted ankle, but injury not considered serious.

Big OT win against Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder,  as the Raptors win 123-114.

Paskal Siakam led all Toronto players with 33 points, followed by VanVleet with 23, Leonard with 22 & Green with 17.

The Raptors lost a 14 pt. lead in the second half but prevailed enough to win in OT.  The Raptors defence was pivotal in stiffling the Thunder at that point.

It was Westbrook's first game back from a suspension and he showed no signs of rust in posting 42 pts., even though it wasn't warranted enough in the end to beat the Raptors.

"As we get closer to the end (of the season) here, where it's less about foundational principles and more about getting locked in and playoff-type defensive packages and coverages, tonight you saw that a little bit," VanVleet said. "Things are getting a little more detailed and guys are revving it up a little bit more.

Toronto (51-21) is 2.0 GBL Milwaukee Bucks in the race for first in the Eastern Conference with ten games remaining.

Kyle Lowry did not play due to injury.

In the second back-to-back game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, this time at the Scotiabank Arena here in Toronto, and unlike the Raptors previous OT win in Oklahoma Wednesday night, this time was it was a different twist as the Thunder rallied back to a 116-109 win.

The Thunder trio of Russell Westbrook, Shroeder, and Paul George did the most damage as Oklahoma, who trailed Toronto by ten points in each of the three and a half quarters, sharpened their three point conversions, their defence, their passing & running game.  There were times when the Thunder played fiendishly particularly in the fourth quarter when they took the lead over the Raptors before Toronto came back to life, thanks in part to Kawhi Leonard there.  Alas, it was a case of too little, too late.

Leonard with 37 points & 6 rebounds, Siakam with 24 pts,. & 5 rebds, Green with 19 pts,. & 7 rebds, were the drivers behind Toronto?s  surge throughout the game.

Once again, Kyle Lowry was out to due ankle soreness.

Raptors clinched the Atlantic Division with a 121-109 win last night over the Orlando Magic powered by Danny Green?s 29 point performance.

Toronto is 3 GBL Milwaukee Bucks for first in the Eastern a Conference standings with four games remaining.  It?s unlikely they will overtake Milwaukee unless the Bucks lose all four of their remaining games.

If the playoffs were to be held today, the Raptors would face the Brooklyn Nets.  It?ll most likely be the Nets or the Heat as their opponents for the opening round.

Until the season is over, we won?t know for sure.

GO RAPTORS GO!

Raptors set a franchise record 25th road win of the season as they defeat the Brooklyn Nets 115-105.

Pascal Siakam with 28 points and Leonard with with 26, as well as Serge Ibaka?s 23 pts., powered the Jays  to victory.

Charlotte was fighting for their playoff lives and it sure looked like Toronto had the win all wrapped up until...🤦‍♀️

Final score:  Charlotte 113  Toronto 111

The Raptors with two games remaining will finish second in the Eastern Conference.  They are 3.5 G back of first place Milwaukee Bucks.

Raptors defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 120-100 in their last game of the season last night.

Toronto finished second in the Eastern Conference and won?t know which one of either the Brooklyn Nets, Orlando Magic, or the Detroit Pistons will be their opponents for the opening round of the upcoming NBA playoffs.  The Raptors finished their year with a 58-24 w/l record, 2.5GBL Milwaukee Bucks.

Their schedule outside of Game 2 follows the Leafs schedule exactly. I want to say that's unfortunate but it isn't, having both teams in the playoffs is awesome.

I'd say its unfortunate, but I'm fine with it because I can watch the Leafs on the TV via Antenaa, and Raptors on laptop/iPad streaming.  My wife is going to hate me for those three nights.  She's getting no help with the little one.

It's not that bad though.  Friday is probably going to be the only game where they go head to head when they both play at 7:00 PM.

Raptors win...wait...what!!??

Orlando 104-101 over Toronto in Game 1 at the ScotiaBank Arena here in T.O.

Not surprising though, the Raptors have always had a penchant for playoff slow starts.  Maybe these guys thought it would be easy.

At some point they have to decide what to do with Lowry. I get that his numbers look respectable, but seems like he puts up crap games like this every year in the playoffs.

Should have traded him at the deadline when they supposedly had the chance.

Raptors victorious!

Defeat the Magic 111-82 to tie the series at one apiece.

Big performance by Kawhi Leonard who contributed 37 points and received a  standing ovation from the faithful.

This time saw a much better Kyle Lowry, who rebounded from that disastrous Game 1 performance, and contributed 22 pts. on the night.  Siakam with 19 and Ibaka with 13 were the other point getters.

Of course, it wouldn' t have been complete without guys like Marc Gasol who helped nab some steals & forced turnovers, particularly from the Magic's best Augustin and Vučević

Smart defense, aggressive in the paint, sharp at the rim, all qualities that were akin to the Raptors success during the year came to the fore in Game 2.  In other words, the Toronto Raptors are back!

Game 3 goes Friday in Orlando.
