Yeah I mean what were seeing is kind of insane. Basically to me the regular season is even more irrelevant than I even imagined.Nik said:Like, I'm sorry but anyone who watched the Canadiens in the regular season and now in the playoffs and is thinking "Yeah, these playoffs are really separating the wheat from the chaff" needs to have their head examined.
The National Hockey League has sanctioned the Arizona Coyotes for violating the NHL's Combine Testing Policy during the 2019-20 season, directing the forfeiture of the Club?s 2nd-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft and 1st-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.

At the time of this edict, Arizona now has no picks in rounds 1 (NJD), 2 (NHL foreit), 3 (COL to WAS) for 2020.

The Maple Leafs must forfeit a third-round pick to the Detroit Red Wings and a third-round pick to the New Jersey Devils as delayed compensation for hiring away head coach Mike Babcock and general manager Lou Lamoriello, respectively.

3rds I think.

That's a hefty punishment for conducting testing on players.

Yeah. With all that, it's a fair punishment. It's just that, as you know, the NHL's punishment standards are . . . well, it would be nice if they penalized players as harshly as they did teams and coaches.

I think one thing this shows is that the players/PA deserve criticism for that as well as the NHL. Especially when it comes to suspensions, they've often fought back on any idea of them being stiffer.
Nik said:But they've done that within the context of the NHL and Bettman specifically having final say on suspensions. No credible union in the world would allow for management to suspend players as long as they wanted without having an independent appeals process.
bustaheims said:Yeah, I'm less concerned about suspensions (though, they could/should be more severe). It's the fact that players can only be fined such a meaninglessly small amount compared to their salaries.
