Nylander deserving any kind of bonus is laughable. I realize it's contractual and only in the real world do you get a bonus at your job as merit based.  I hope this is prorated at least for the months he did not report.
::)

I have added in Kapanen. Now at $47.73 million USD or 62.52 CAD and they will still have much more to pay Marner.

Matthews - 15,200,00
Tavares - 14,990,000
Nylander - 8,300,000
Kapanen - 3,700,00
Zaitsev - 3,000,000
Andersen - 3,000,000
Kadri - 2,000,000
Brown - 500,000
Sparks - 40,000

It's a signing bonus and is really not merit-based, so I have zero ideas why anyone would care.

Also thinking all bonuses in the "real world" are merit based is pretty funny.

It is a benefit to the player to have their money sooner. It also is a benefit to the team who can offer more money up front (time value) and also makes them more tradable since real dollars owed will be less than the cap hit. It's one-way the Leafs can flex their financial muscles.

Is that Corey Perry's music?!

edit: Spezza-Perry as 2/3 of a 4th line would be great, I don't care how slow they are.

I was playing with the financial calculator.

Assumption:
5% interest rate
All $ invested
Less current tax brackets only
Growth to age 40 (19 years from now)

Future value of bonus-laden contract versus flat amount each year grew to just $2M more. Not as great a benefit as I expected.

Dinocock (Babcock) is stuck in the past. He would play them at least 20 minutes each per game regardless of contribution and suckability.

I think veterans on the cheap or players looking for rebound seasons after being bought out will become the norm going forward with this hard cap.

In all seriousness, Perry has won EVERYTHING and would be a great asset on the team. He plays "heavy" and he will probably be playing PO too. Not sure how low he would be willing to go through?

I think this is Dubas? favourite thing to do

Speaking of slow, the Leafs are happily on board with Barbing vets that come through the revolving doors and improving their games insofar as it?s possible: Polak, Boyle, Hainsey.

It?s an attractive place to play if you?re looking to rebound after a down year.

I believe the term, technically, is "underhilling."  Although admittedly that could be misconstrued in the context of aging veterans ahem.

Why do you think I went with Barbing, hm?

Jason Spezza is a biggie boy.  He doesn't need to be mollycoddled barbcoddled undercoddled.

err I guess that last one could also be misconstrued.  :o :o :P :P

Zaitsev, Brown, Bracco, 1st

For

Aaron Ekblad

Florida some money to offer Panarin and Bob and uses their international teammate as a selling point.

I know... :(
