I literally refuse to believe there's any chance in hell this is true.

"Yes, I've received 10 million complaints, but do you know how much money we're making on those things!!??"

The appropriate response from Bettman should have been "polling indicates there is no difference for viewers between physical boards and digital." - which also would have been a lie but a more believable one.

I will say this, the digital boards have gotten a lot better since the start of the season.

Make two changes and I think they'd be fine.

1) No animations during game play. Have animations (if they want) during stoppages in play.

2) Don't change the ads while they are on screen. Wait til the puck goes to the other end of the ice or cut to another camera angle and change the ads in the wide shot and cut back .

Make those two changes and I think the digital ads would be fine.

Honestly, I barely notice them anymore. They were a distraction for the first few games, but, now, they're just part of the background.

There's still weird times where the images on the board are distorted when a player is by them, but I am willing to admit that's a bit of growing pain. Hopefully it's something that gets sorted out in the future.  I also think for the most part all of Dappleganger's suggestions for them are solid and much needed.

The idea that fans are willingly saying it makes them "MORE" likely to watch a game is just poppycock though.

I find some of the ads bother me a bit still but its usually the ones that are moving right at the onset of a faceoff when the puck goes right into the corner.  Not enough to be angry about it but it is what it is.

Bettman's just outright lying though if fans think this is an improvement on the game.  It's the same nonsense with fans liking ads on the jerseys.  They are fine.  It doesn't bother me but don't blatantly lie.

Also the news that the cap might not go up much again this offseason.  The NHL is run as a mickey mouse professional sports league.

So Ovechkin hits 800.  I hate his Putin connection but it sure is fun watching hockey history take place

Sonny Milano with 11 points in 19 games this season for the Caps. That's a 47 point pace over 82 games. He did legitimately have a bad camp with the Flames but still, that's a player that was available for free to every team to take a chance on.

Anaheim won a game in regulation! At Edmonton

Third period was madness, with Edmonton out shooting Anaheim 23-2 in just the period and Dostal making 46 saves overall.

At least the "character issues" in this case aren't about him being a racist bully or anything like that. Sounds more like a high degree of immaturity, which can be overcome in the right situation, some personal growth, etc.

If he can be had for a late pick and a minor league roster filler type, it could be a worthwhile gamble.
