2022-23 NHL Thread

Just to make this entirely about the Leafs: 24/25 is when Matthews?/Nylander?s next deals kick in and would help us keep the 5 of them together in that overlap year with Tavares?/Marner?s final year. I fully expect Tavares to be retained in a Spezza-like capacity.

This is hilarious. We don?t do make it calls. But we make sure the calls are even.

So one side can play murder hockey and get a bunch of penalties but eventually they'll pay more attention to the other team regardless if the first team is playing dirty. Ok.

Remember that this is the same ref that got fired for admitting on a hot mic that he?s going to do a make up call and got fired for it

I'm no chemist, so I could be totally wrong on this, but isn't water just water no matter where it is found in the world?

Yes and no. If it was absolutely pure, sure, but naturally sourced water has additional minerals and such in it. Those minerals can impact the consistency of the ice (not in way most of us would notice, of course).

There are often additives that are used when making the initial layers of ice to get a better density and reduce the potential for air bubbles when setting up the new ice.  I don't know that Swiss spring water honestly makes a huge difference.  I'm sure that ambient temperature in the arena, humidity levels, and how often flooring goes over top of the ice are going to have far bigger impacts on ice quality.
