Subban retires too

It's crazy to think that Subban is retiring at 33. Not really a fair comparison since one is a literal freak of nature but that's 12 years younger than Chara.

Would have been cool to see him as a Leaf for a season or two, but there just really wasn't much of a fit. Even if someone like Holl was moved out.

Edit: I forgot this will preview the post it is replying to as well, so... you're welcome!

Loved his Cherry impersonation.

Crazy how young he is to retire. You'd think he still had something left in the tank but maybe his heart just isn't in it anymore.

The quality of his play dropped off dramatically the last few years. Likely a case of him recognizing he can't perform up to the standards he'd like to and he's better off walking away.

Another thing with Subban I've been thinking is that, like, realistically a lot of the options presented to him would have been pretty bleak. Does he want to go to Phoenix or Seattle to be on the bottom pairing of a bad team at least in part because they struggle for attention and he's got name recognition?

One of the things I always liked about Subban is he seems like a pretty well rounded guy who despite being fully committed to the game also had other interests. If he wasn't presented with any offers that were actually enticing and not just "You can hang around in the league" I very much understand why he'd pass.

So its acceptable for Pronger to be weighing in on whether players face punishment while still being paid by one of those teams but not acceptable for Bishop to work in the front office.

I don't entirely hate the decision, but it's just the hypocrisy from the NHL that looks bad.  I would hope it wouldn't matter if Bishop's contract was still with the Stars instead of sham traded.  Maybe the NHL should stop letting teams trade contracts of players who clearly aren't going to be playing hockey anymore.  I mean that would make it impossible for Arizona to exist as a franchise but well...I don't care about that.

What a mess this trade was for everyone. Ellis' career might be over, Glass hasn't developed yet, and Patrick's career might also be in jeopardy. At least Nashville managed to turn Myers into McDonagh - which may or may not be a good thing, depending on how he holds up (and, considering his recent trajectory and contract, doesn't feel like they'll get great value there regardless).

So I've got my Fantasy Hockey draft in a couple hours. Any sleepers people like? I'm thinking someone on Columbus might get a  big boost from Gaudreau. Roslovic? Laine to take a step forward?

Jenner was between Gaudreau and Laine to start camp. Probably a good guy to target especially if hits and FOs are counted too.

Toffoli might be an intriguing option if shotgunning with Huberdeau and Lindholm for a good chunk of the year.

This has to be my favourite running bit.

Thanks for both tips. Sadly, neither played out for me, my team is terrible and I hate the world and everyone in it.
