Jenner was between Gaudreau and Laine to start camp. Probably a good guy to target especially if hits and FOs are counted too.

Toffoli might be an intriguing option if shotgunning with Huberdeau and Lindholm for a good chunk of the year.

Thanks for both tips. Sadly, neither played out for me, my team is terrible and I hate the world and everyone in it.

On the fantasy note do we still have a forum fantasy league or has that died by the wayside?

Looks like the Habs may be a cup contender this season. Screw Bedard.

Hey you came up with an ugly mascot that is honoring a piece of art that was designed to prevent homeless people from sleeping under a bridge (The Freemont Troll).

Thumbs down to this one.

It's entirely possible ABB just isn't a NHLer, but any other team should really try to actually find out.

When 5 guys get claimed from our last minute waiver dump I'm going to laugh I guess.

I don't really understand why Barre-Boulet hasn't been given a legit attempt at a spot from a non-playoff bound team.  Consistent PPG player in the AHL.  You would think a team like Phoenix would have a spot for a guy like that to try and make a go of it.

The curse of being small and skilled with skating limitations and defensively apathetic but not as productive as those top 15 picks who front offices are more incentivized to give opportunities to.

If it was the Leafs that had put him on waivers how quickly would he have been claimed?

That is a sign of a good team.

He had trouble cracking the roster of a Stanley Cup champion. That isn't the end of the world.

But to have gone undrafted and then unclaimed via waivers allegedly due to a chronic concern with his skating, that's obviously not good in the 2022-23 NHL. These days with advanced stats, more scouting, more staff doing analytics, there are not going to be as many 'found wallets'. I bet every NHL team has some sort of talent assessment on him that has been years in development.

The teams have so much more knowledge and data now, it is becoming increasingly difficult to question their decisions. Analytics is still a pretty new frontier so they haven't got it all figured out yet. But they are getting better at it.

There seems to be an increase in PTOs with 30% getting a contract. That's a smart way to improve price-performance - make the guys on the fringes earn it.

10 coaches turned over this year? They're under a lot of pressure to win. If any of them thought ABB could help them win, they would have snatched him in a heartbeat.

Unless Dubas pulls off a miracle trade or someone with a big contract goes on LTIR, the Leafs are going to lose some players via waivers shortly. Keefe thought this has been the most competitive Leafs camp he's attended and I think he's right. So far, I feel pleasantly surprised. But with the cap, they simply can't keep them all. The teams in need will gobble them up.

Johnsson on waivers :(

At the time of the trade I would have said him and Joey Anderson would be playing in the same league in 2 years... but uh not like this...
