2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I take the Leafs too but I don't think it's crazy for someone to prefer taking their shot with a top 1 or 2 goalie in the league in Shesterkin. Especially since there's also a lot of good pieces around him (like a former Norris winner, former Hart nominee, 50-goal scorer, multiple top draft picks who are NHL roster players).

Rangers have some good pieces, but swap the goaltenders and I don?t think the two teams are anywhere close to each other in the standings. With Shesterkin, the Leafs would be one of the Cup favourites. With Campbell/Mrazek, the Rangers might not even make the playoffs.

Kreider is a 50 goal scorer in the sense that he did it this year. I'd bet every day of the week that he never comes close to replicating that.

Also, a lot of their top players aren't old but their core isn't nearly as young as the Leafs. Their young guys are nice but Lafreniere and Kakko don't look like Matthews and Marner. Shesterkin is carrying them.

I think the boat anchor right now is Tavares for us. I think if we redistribute his cap hit more evenly and I'd take the Leafs every time.

How many extra ranking points do we figure Crouse received because he's a big boy. Were people still looking for power forwards in 2015?

Teams are always looking for power forwards. The bar for drafting one that high has just been raised.

I?m not going to bother making a new thread.  The NHL awards show is a joke.  The NHL has absolutely no idea how to market the league.  Maybe having it run by a bunch of 60 year old white guys isn?t the best approach.

You would think that they would not have the microphone three feet below the players mouth.  The NHL just finds ways to reiterate how amateurish they are.  Music playing off a guy in the middle of his speech.  But we have time for Keenan Thompson to do a bad comedy sketch.

Inflation is spiking the soup market something fierce.

Chris Johnston doesn?t have real sources within the Leafs at this point.  He should stick to shilling bitcoins, NFTs and sports betting

If he?s not posting it to his own Twitter, he?s pulling it out of his butt. It?s a clear indication he?s not willing to own the info.

Ted Lindsay award winner - Austin Matthews!!!!

That can?t be right. I was assured the players would see past the Toronto media narratives.

I mean they only voted for him because in two years he will be playing for Arizona?or at least Chris Johnston can keep that nonsense alive eon every podcast he appears on to get clicks.

For who gets the rights to the Soup name.

Wow Makar best Josi for Norris.  I agree with it but I?m surprised 96 points from a defenseman
