Well, there goes that thought.

Seems like a total steal for the Avs. Could easily have been $10/year as a UFA, no?

Tough break for Dach and the Habs. He was starting to really click.

He had moments of dominance against the Leafs in the season opener.  Crummy luck for him and the team.

The NHL app really makes you watch an unskippable 30-second gambling ad before EVERY SINGLE goal clip, many of which aren't even 30 seconds long themselves, in their scores section eh. What a deeply terrible experience.

Sportsnet Youtube highlights and a Youtube premium subscription for me. That's for full game highlights though, but you can at least skip through and find just the goals.

Do people actually think this? The excitement of watching my GM chit chat with another GM goes away real quick when every selection takes 21 minutes to make because every team needs to bring 53 men in suits to the stage and deliver a 14 minute monologue before their pick.

Ugh. Most years, the draft is a slog. Outside of when there's a real trade that involves actual players, it's not worth watching. Most of the time, you don't even get to see GMs talking to each other - you just see them on the phone with someone, only for nothing to happen.

The only people I see complaining about stuff are media personalities.

I sometimes watch the first round...usually check out and pop in closer to when the Leafs pick and then stop.  I have zero interest in watching the 16th cousin 5 times removed announce the draft pick because some minority owner wants to get their kid on the stage.

You can put a camera in the war rooms for each team and trades barely happen anymore so the "wow a GM is at another table stuff" is way overblown.  The NHL draft is a painful slog with very little entertainment value.

I was wondering if someone was going to grab Foudy.  18th overall in 2018.

Domi shouldn't be near that top 6. Winger on the 3rd line (or at C, where he really excelled last year) makes the most sense to me for him. I think Robertson, Domi, Jankrok and Gregor, Kampf, Steeves could be a very nicely balanced bottom of the lineup

Also...isn't Klingberg, like, fast?

I tried looking into this and... I don't know. He doesn't appear as lead-footed as Giordano out there, I thought he's looked fine.

Why can't the NHL get with the times? I'm able to easily tell you/find Vlad Jr's sprint speed first to second but NHL skating speeds? Nada.

Just pulling this GDT conversation into the wider NHL space because:

Can't pull up any details because the site is currently unusable lol

Has Boston somehow figured out that centers are unnecessary?

It's more that they're getting unsustainably good goaltending. Their offence is middle of the pack and defensively, outside of the goaltending, they've really just been okay.

Oh I thought it was just me and my not-great work computer.

I'm curious to dig around with this though eventually but I think in general these types of stats don't mean a ton in hockey.

I got some loads to work (verified that Nylander was very good), but everything else is hit or miss and kind of only loaded up in Chrome sporadically. Their applet is poop.

Other than answering esoteric trivia about individuals, these data pulls just add additional noise to the conversation; maybe year over year we can see when players hit their drop offs (losing their fastballs, so to speak).

Two years in a row of unsustainably good goaltending?
