Yeah I joked about this but where's the evidence that Wes Clark is some drafting guru? He was with the Leafs since 2018 and the notable players players picked are Knies and Cowan. He was also on board for Sandin and Durzi, but that's about it in 6 years of drafts.
We hope Cowan is something but there's no guarantee of that, Knies looks like a really good player and a great pick especially considering he wasn't even a 1st rounder. Drafting is such a crapshoot outside the top 10-15 players in most cases so whatever.

Clark has only actually led the last 3 draft efforts. John Lilley, now with the Rangers, was in that role from 2021 a bunch of years prior. Clark has also generally been credited with pushing for Knies in the 2021 draft even if he wasn't fully in charge at that point. So yeah it's a little early to really say he's a god-tier drafter or anything but from just the past 3 years there's been a lot of picks that have in hindsight been pretty good. Especially since the 22 and 23 drafts didn't exactly have a lot of picks to use.

Gonna read into this so much
Which NHL teams have improved the most this offseason? Rating all 32 teams
8. Toronto Maple Leafs
Net Rating added: +14
Salary added: -$4 million
Key Additions: Chris Tanev, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Anthony Stolarz
Key Departures: Tyler Bertuzzi, Joel Edmundson, Ilya Lyubushkin, Ilya Samsonov
It?s looking more and more likely that the Leafs are running it back. Will this time be different? Maybe!
What helps make that decision feel like the best path forward is seeing where all of the league?s top contenders lie ? at the bottom of this list. Almost every contender from last season looks demonstrably worse going into 2024-25. The Leafs? They look better, and that closes the gap between them and the league?s best considerably. The Leafs? 2024 offseason has put the team back on track after last season?s questionable summer.
That stems entirely from the Leafs turning Joel Edmundson and Ilya Lyubushkin into Chris Tanev and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Those are comparatively strong upgrades that give Toronto one of its best blue lines during this era. Adding Anthony Stolarz, who was stellar last season, to replace Ilya Samsonov looks like a great move too.
The Leafs could still use a top-six winger to replace Tyler Bertuzzi, but were right to prioritize the back end. It could be what finally pushes the team toward a deep playoff run. This is a much stronger defensive group.
Its a nice positive assessment, that I concur with. I hope both Cowan and Minten can join the team. We need to get rid of Janrock or bury Reeves in the minors. I don't think Treliving will do this.herman said:https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5626787/2024/07/10/nhl-teams-offseason-2024/

Every time I watch Jarnkrok play, I think he provides great versatility and value per dollar given his low salary.

I?d look to get something for Kampf long before Jarnkrok. The only benefit to trading Jarnkrok is he might bring more back than Kampf. But I?d rather be shot of Kampf?s salary and utilise it elsewhere.

Well, then it?s a good thing Jarnkrok started in the league as a center!
Seriously, though, I don?t get the push by some to move him. You?re not getting a better player for that money and there?s better options to move if you?re just looking to clear space. His role on the team needs to be adjusted - and, hopefully, the new coaching staff will recognize that - but he provides good value, is a solid defensive presence, and can chip in offensively. He?s not a cap dump guy.
