The Jays aren't flush with quality/reliable pitchers, and it's not like banking on Scherzer is going to break their playoff aspirations. That they’re counting on him as a starter and come June they’re down a starter?
I agree with everything you’re saying. I’m just not holding my breath that he can last the season. That’s all.The Jays aren't flush with quality/reliable pitchers, and it's not like banking on Scherzer is going to break their playoff aspirations.
I'll take my chances on getting whatever they can out of Scherzer. If they need a starter come June, bring someone up or find someone off the scrap heap.
A one-year deal is a minimal to no downside, high reward signing in my opinion.
Well, that’s something. Hopefully, he can stay somewhat healthy.Heyman is reporting Scherzer is a Blue Jay.
So the rotation as of today will be: Gausman - Scherzer - Berrios - Francis - Bassitt
* Manoah potentially available around the trade deadline and Yariel as the stretch/6th starter.
