4 Pittsburgh Penguins vs 5 Philadelphia Flyers

Maybe I'm wrong but on the surface, Philly is giving me hope for the Leafs. I mean, did they have a string of 3,4 years of being the very worst team in the league as the Pens did? Again, I haven't looked in depth (or at all really) at how they've assembled this team but on the surface, it looks like it's been by in large by shrude trading and drafting. God, I'd love to just once in 10-12 years strike gold on a player like Giroux.

Can't help but look at Philli and their approach to trades almost always being go big or go home, and more often than not it pays off for them. They trade all sorts of young talent yet they have a team full of top end young players.  I was looking at their depth chart and blown away at the ages of most of their forwards.  Just boggles the mind a bit, how they make it happen.

Always interesting how in Leafs land, a big move here or there is not taken and its a chance to change the fortunes of the franchise but our team gets all conservative and won't let it happen... ie: not signing Wayne Gretzky because Stavro was cheap or not trading for Pronger when he went to Anaheim because we didn't want to give up Steen.

Wonder what the Leafs with Pronger added to the post-lockout Sundin years  would have looked like.  :'(

Like I said a few weeks ago... "Nothing ventured"...  :-\

It's also important to look at the timing of those ventures and what point the team/organization was at when those gambles were taken.

4 games for Asham, 1 for Neal.

Neal argues that he jumped into Couturier to protect himself, and Shanny buys it. Then he does the exact same thing 40 seconds later. And this happens in the middle of a series where all hell has pretty much broken loose? Neal sure is lucky he scored 40 goals this season.

In fairness, a one game suspension is going to end his season.

Fleury and Bryz have been complete busts in this series.  I would be very worried going forward if I was with either team.

I like goals and all but this is like watching a bunch of guys play shinny while they chug some beers on the bench. Horrible hockey.

This series is definitely among the most absurd things I ever remember seeing. Close to 1 of every 5 shots has gone in over all, 1 in 4 tonight. That's subpar even for the goal crazy 80s.

And if you think the Pens are going to let up on the PP even though it is 6-3.... I would imagine they would want to run up the score if they could the way things have gone in this series...

The Flyers are imploding like the Pens did last game. The series is still over. As bad as Bryzgalov is, Fleury has been just as bad so I don't like the Pens' chances of winning 3 more with him back there. Heck, this game might not even be over yet.
