AA leaving?

How do you know they don't have any loyalty toward AA?

Because it wouldn't be based on anything. AA didn't do anything for them. They've been in the organization for less than a year.

What does it say about an organization that can't re-sign their GM, that by all accounts, they really wanted to re-sign?

Nothing inherently. Especially not if that GM didn't want any sort of oversight as he built an unsustainable team.

Nik, your opinions are amusing but they're not based in fact.

I don't often agree with Steve Simmons (this might be the first time) but I thought this article was worth a read. http://www.lfpress.com/2015/10/29/gm-alex-anthopoulos-leaving-blue-jays

In the last calendar year, AA replaced every starting position player except for Jose Bautista. Pretty incredible.

Ken Rosenthal reports that the 5 year deal had a year 1 out clause if AA just couldn't take it with Shapiro.

I think this is Rogers coming out and saying 'hey we tried'. Honestly I can make an argument for both sides here...

Sources: #BlueJays? five-year offer to Anthopoulos gave him right to opt out after one year if relationship with Shapiro was not working.

I still think Rogers bungled this all.

Aren't all contract subject to the GM being able to resign?

Sure, but MLB has rules against resigning a position to take a similar position with another organization.

Lou resigned to become GM of the Leafs.

Can I ask who Nik The Troll was previously?

I was Dappleganger previously. I'll change back soon. Just having some fun with Nik, who I do enjoy, but couldn't understand his position on Blue Jays current events.

I'm pretty sure he's Ed Rogers or maybe Shapiro, not sure.

Nik, sorry for the late response, Rogers offered Shapiro control to make final decisions on players whilst AA was still the man doing that and then AA pulls off some major trades and runs up millions and millions in extra dollars for the Rogers Empire.  Perhaps they should have waited on some of the negotiations with replacement for Beeston until Alex finished his season and then they could have negotiated with Shapiro on a different level or elevated AA to a higher status.
He certainly seems able.

And your evidence that Shapiro has final say on personnel decisions is what?

And again, the narrative that AA pulled these trades out of nowhere is just straight up hogwash. He made those trades because he was willing to part with a level of prospect that other teams weren't. Moves that necessitate that the team drastically increase payroll in the near future or make significant sacrifices to the batting line-up in order to fill out the pitching staff.

I know that people can forget that because there's no cap but money is a finite resource in MLB and that would be a very legitimate issue for ownership/Shapiro to have with how AA ran the team. You say AA "made the team money" but that's only after spending huge amounts of money on the team in several failed iterations. Do you know that this season's success made up for spending 50+ million dollars on Reyes/Buerhle/Josh Johnson in 2013? This is a team that's had a 100+ million dollar payroll in each of the last three seasons with one post-season appearance. So did AA really "run up millions and millions" for Rogers? Or did his deadline trades mitigate some of the money he wasted in earlier years while jeopardizing the franchise's future?

I am not as busted up as many about this. Sure I wanted him back with the Jays but I don't think this is a knife in the heart of this team. AA might have cameback not been able to re-sign Price and Estrada leaving this team with a weak rotation and very little to deal to improve.  I am happy he went all in and caught lightning in a bottle this season but that doesn't mean I over look his previous efforts.
