I do hope they clearly spell out that getting vaccinated does not preclude you from still carrying and transmitting virus droplets. It just prevents an infection.

For the sake of clarity, the mRNA vaccines do not prevent infection - they reduce the impact of it. Some people who receive these vaccinations will still be infected, it will just be a much more minor illness than they would have experienced without the vaccine (this will likely lead to an increase in asymptomatic infections, which is a legit concern in terms of the messaging - the last thing we need is an increase in asymptomatic spreaders).

The first vaccinations were administered this morning in the U.K. (starting with a 90 year old woman in Coventry) and including at one of my local hospitals here in Northern Ireland.

They have also already started to vaccinate within the care home sector. That is where we have had a majority of our issues so hopefully with this happening we may start to see a drop in hospital admissions and deaths by around February with the most at risk starting to be vaccinated.

Ya, it's one of the questions the FDA advisory panel will be asking, though I don't think the manufacturers will be able to answer it. Though, if the viral load is lower, it should lead to a lesser spread I would imagine. But you're right; if people now think they're superhuman, then they'll lower their efforts at prevention.

100%. I don't think anyone isn't acknowledging that being an island is easier. But as I've said before, we have one border and we are not land locked. We can functionally become an island, especially with the right protocols and procedures. I mean look at the Atlantic bubble that might be seeing some covid but nowhere near the levels of elsewhere.

100%. I don't think anyone isn't acknowledging that being an island is easier. But as I've said before, we have one border and we are not land locked. We can functionally become an island, especially with the right protocols and procedures. I mean look at the Atlantic bubble that might be seeing some covid but nowhere near the levels of elsewhere.

And the international borders (AIR Travel) haven't imposed any sort of lockdown whatsoever. People from all countries are still coming in for xmas to visit family while Torontonians are being told to stay in their homes. Just a pretty poor job being done all around.
