And Pfizer's vaccine just received approval from Health Canada. It sure feels like all that grumbling about the government's handling of the vaccine was for nothing.

Sounds like if you have a history of severe allergies, and carry an epipen (like me), you might be out of luck with the Pfizer vacc for the time being. They're not administering it to those folks in Britain after a couple of bad reactions.

I think that's a wise choice. Even the flu shot that we get every fall causes some bad reactions in some people.

Hopefully they can figure out the root cause after some investigation. Unless you're 70+ you and I will be waiting a while. Hopefully they figure it out by then.

Shockingly Alberta's "this is your problem, you deal with it" response to the pandemic failed and they're going into a full provincial wide lockdown again.

I agree that finger-waiving won?t work. However, sometimes the needs are a need to feel solidarity with a leader who is urging you to take the risks or a need to ?own the libs.?  A need for social connection is certainly a motivator too.  A need for a paycheck is a factor for some. Of course, McConnell and the Republicans are blocking the US government from attempting to meet that need.  So in summary, it is tough to put this advice into effect in the US because Republicans suck.

I think elderly people dying in droves without seeing loved ones is also unfair.

Not the point but I had absolutely not idea that Sweden has a monarchy still. I'm assuming it's a very ceremonial-only role but still, surprised to hear.

I don't love that Dr. Kwan has to keep following up Elliott's tweets reminding people how many people continue to die due to the government's incompetence, something the Deputy Premier appears to be omitting from her messaging deliberately. She hasn't changed her format to provide richer information either (just text and numbers); the graphs are far too damning.

What, you'd never heard of King Henrik?  ;)

We?re getting a 6 week full last March style complete and utter lockdown from Boxing Day here in Northern Ireland. Can?t wait.

So here's the thing...

My life has basically not changed for 9 months. I'm working from home and seeing almost nobody. I understand businesses complaining about lockdown but the govt should throw them cash to wait it out.

My employer briefly tried to get us back into the office in August or so. Lasted about two weeks before we started to bring restrictions back in. I felt very uncomfortable with it in all honesty.

I?m fairly content with restrictions. I?d like a bit of freedom to get outside for a bit of exercise or whatever but it?s winter so maybe not as much as in summer anyway so as long as parks and stuff maybe stay open.

I think the half assed lockdowns have been more of a problem as you suggest and certainly the numbers suggest they?re not even close to working.

Better off locking down properly for a decent amount of time and financially supporting business rather than letting restaurants, for example, half open and probably fail due to having to pay staff and other overheads but get no custom in cos people are afraid to go out anyway.
