My guess is Hildeby starting or not is somewhat linked to any progress the team has made towards acquiring another goalie. If they?re not close, he plays. If they feel they are, he probably doesn?t.

Samsonov shouldn't see the net again. Guys trash. Confidence is huge with goaltending but personally I don't think he has what it takes to carry a team deep in a playoff run. No difference in his play compared to last year as far as positioning etc. I have absolutely no clue how they can't get him to be more calmer its a huge part of his weaknesses in net. Can't fix it then let him go that and I believe he doesn't have the mental capacity to be a goalie in this league. Exactly why the Caps let him go. Find a goalie in a trade or give this kid some time in net and see what he's got. I don't like rushing young players but Treliving is in a tough spot and teams know it. I'd rather see how Hildeby is than giving up more of our future when it may not be better than what we have. Run with these 2 until Woll is back.

I don't get calling up Hildeby to not play him in a back to back scenario.  Stupid decision from the organization. 

I get why you play Jones coming off a shutout but keep Hildeby in the AHL playing games if he's just going to sit and get cold

Steeles has kind of fallen off lately, 1aplle in last 5 games. I know he won't get a look yet but Tverberg impresses me every game I see him play. He does so many things right out there and usually has at least one wow that was impressive moments every game.

It's the Leafs and Keefe nothing makes sense. Exactly what I was thinking what's the point other than get some practice against NHL'ers. If your plan was for him to sit might as well left him in the farm. Mind you if Jones struggles even though I have no clue what Hildeby is like I'd rather have him come in than Sammy.

My most charitable read:
If Jones plays well, Leafs win.
If Jones Sammies it, Hildeby comes in relief with no expectations and either plays hero, or everyone gives an aw shucks oh well. Keefe will have to eat turd for it but Hildeby can remain clean.

Robertson is ahead of Knies in PPG despite TOI and linemates. He's 2nd on the Leafs in points/60 @ 5v5. He's currently tied for 1st with Matthews in goals/60 @ 5v5.

If Jones gets hurt, there will be a lot more than "spelunking" going on "inside of Keefe's mind."

I don't think the decision is clear cut. Giving him a little more time to get adjusted is not a terrible thing.

I think Keefe said as much when he got called up.  Something about letting him soak it all up and so on.
