Game 15 - Panthers @ Leafs - Tues 11-08 - 7 PM SportsNet

I think this game, maybe even more than the Boston game, is a good showcase for how bad the Leafs are all-over right now. They were nowhere in the first period, have shown up in the last half of the game but haven't been able to get back in it because they've just been unable to execute.

the leafs weren't great ...but goaltending has made them look a lot worse ...i'm not sure any of the goals tonight should have happened ...doesn't mean scrivens/gustavson didn't make some saves along the way..but the questionable goals are at 100%

Isn't it just our luck that we finally have a goaltender (Reimer) who the team has played really well in front of, and have a good record with, and he goes out and is randomly hit in the head (after a strong start by our team to the season) and is now out.  Seriously, how many other goaltenders can you count (other than Pascal Leclaire and DiPietro) who have been bumped like that and knocked out of action?

So incredibly frustrating.

But Scrivens is 'quiet' in net apparently.

Gustavsson would have given up three goals on that play.

Scrivens = .867 SV%
Gustavsson = .878 SV%

You aren't going to win games with that.

We are a bloody horrible team. We can't even rally and get it together after a bad loss. Instead we crap the bed again. What the hell.

Name a team that is going to win with goaltending like we've seen tonight.  Maybe the 80's Oilers.

I think they'd struggle pretty badly, as well. They'd just be losing 5-4 instead of 5-1.

They had Grant Fuhr.

You can't put the 1st period on Gus. The Leafs generated nothing and stood around and watched. They picked it up a little afterwards but it's still not on Gus/Scrivens to score goals and the Leafs looked utterly incapable of doing that in the last two games.

Yeah, I mean look at Edmonton - winning 1-0 over Montreal right now.  Are they a defensive juggernaut all of a sudden?  No, they're getting some elite, elite goaltending.

Our not-even-league-average goaltending makes our team and our defence look in shambles.  Not that we don't struggle as it is, but goaltending can really act to exaggerate the positive and the negative.

It's hard to believe both our goaltenders would be giving Vesa Toskala a run for his money.

Do the Leafs have a 3rd/4th line?

Brown - 1 goal in 15 games
Lombardi - 2 goals in 15 games
Frattin - 1 assist in 13 games
Dupuis - 0 points in 13 games
Rosehill - 0 points in 5 games
Armstrong - 0 points in 5 games
Bozak - 0 goals in 13 games

I know you shouldn't be looking for your bottom 6 to be providing your offense but that's just not enough from them.

What about Steckel?
