Game 21: Canadiens @ Leafs, 7:30PM, TSN, TSN 1050

Sucks we are down to 11 forwards but at least Brown won't be taking anymore stupid penalties.  4 minutes worth of PP time for the Habs to start the 2nd.

That's an absurd call.  He made direct contact with the side of his body, with the effect that he went into the board a bit awkwardly.  Blind-side for sure but there was nothing vicious about it.

Yeah. He was leaning forward a little, but, he didn't even go into the boards that hard. Terrible call.

If that is a major, then there's no such thing as a 2-minute boarding penalty.

Seriously, if they want to get dangerous hits out of the game, make all boardings majors.

There is an enormous amount of judgment involved in the application of this rule by the Referees. The onus is on the player applying the check to ensure his opponent is not in a defenseless position and if so, he must avoid or minimize the contact. However, in determining whether such contact could have been avoided, the circumstances of the check, including whether the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position immediately prior to or simultaneously with the check or whether the check was unavoidable can be considered. This balance must be considered by the Referees when applying this rule.

Don't think the refs really do that very often.

I'd like to see Randy double-shift either Van Reim or Kessel with Kadri every once in a while the rest of hte game.  Orr is an anchor.

Why did he get a game misconduct? The rule says:

41.5 Game Misconduct Penalty - When a major penalty is imposed under this rule for a foul resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent, a game misconduct shall be imposed

There was no injury.
