Game 26: Penguins @ Leafs, 7:00pm - CBC, NHLN-US,ROOT-PIT

Carlyle starts things off with Phaneuf paired with Franson. If that keeps up Holzer will definitely be out of the line-up for the next game.

Holzer is -3 tonight, and he can be sent down without waivers... Lupul is right on the corner coming back from his injury, so, this looks like the logical move.

I like our chances, it has been going better in general since Carlyle switched the top 2 matchup.  I think the difference is that McClement and Kulemin are better defensively than JVR and Kessel against the Crosby line (I saw McClement playing Crosby tight last period), while Bozak can handle Malkin a bit better.

Bring on Gardiner. Please.

Thankfully they've only played about half a dozen shifts, but I don't think our 4th line has had the puck in the offensive zone for more than 30 seconds tonight in total.

MacArthur is going to be an interesting decision in the coming days. Keep him for the run and lose him for nothing or deal him?

I think I'd keep him.  I actually would be exploring the option of dealing Kuli instead.  I don't know what's happened, but very rarely do I see the player he can be anymore.  Looks really tentative and unconfident.

He's still solid defensively.

Solid, sure but even defensively, he looks tentative to me.

It's possible I'm magnifying the issue, but I really feel there's been regression in his overall game.

Definitely offensively, but his 30 goal season put expectations way too high, he's really not a 30 goal guy.  I still see him always taking the body, putting in the work ethic, etc.  He's not looking like he'll be a big offensive guy, but he still seems like a guy you want on a team for a different role.

Yeah, I don't expect 30 again.  That's an  unfortunate benchmark he set.  I think he should have 15-20 in him, though.

I agree he still works hard and does what he's supposed to, I just don't feel like he's doing it with as much...confidence?  I don't know, but he just isn't having the same impact in my eyes.

I still like him as a player, but I'm less adverse to moving him as I once was.

I totally agree, that year gave people higher expectations of him then they perhaps should have. I had envisioned him as a solid 20-20 guy at the least. His defense makes up for his offensive output.

I hoped that he would bounce back but i think the loss of his friends and trainer hit him harder then a lot of people cared to admit. He just hasn't been the same again sadly imho.

I wouldn't have wanted him traded either a year ago but now with the chemistry that Mac and Kadri have it is hard to not want to keep Mac and see what we can package with kuli for a upgrade somewhere.
