Game 50: Leafs @ Pens, 7:00pm

I've got tickets to the game in Ottawa on Saturday, but I don't even really want to go at this point. I might see what I can get for them on game day...

Let's not read too much into this one, as disgusting as ending was.  Getting a point on the road is usually considered a decent result.

But it's imperative that they beat these clowns tomorrow.

If I'm Wilson I put Reimer in net and challenge him to play his best game of the year.

then i think you'll be looking at their second loss in a row.... at least we get liles back tomorrow..should help the powerplay

Nah, you need to go with Reimer at some point.  They have way too many games packed close together coming up.

My main point is that in a weird game like this you don't magnify its importance.  It's a young team and they are playing well for the most part....

What did Busta say?  Other such platitudes.

i disagree that tomorrow is when you "have" to go with him...it's not like jonas can't handle back to back games just after coming back from the break

And New Jersey went to another shootout and won.  How they heck does every last one of their games go to shootout?

This feels exactly like that loss in NJ 2 years back where Leafs were up 3-1 with 5 min left in regulation and lost 4-3 in regulation. Gus was in net also. We all said its a young team and its growing pains. 2 years later same stuff still happens.

two years later ..a lot of those guys are gone

Sad as it is I refuse to get depressed about it. Leafs showed a lot of poise through most of the game. Their transition was good, their passing was crisp, and even clearing the zone was solid most of the night. Aside from the ending, I liked what I saw. Hot teams like the Pens will do this to you once in a while, no biggie.

So...two years later and it's still possible to give up a late lead?

I mean, I'm bummed too but it's not like this is lightning striking twice.

I concur. Face it, that last goal off Malkin's chest was a ridiculous fluke. Was it Grabo that didn't get that final puck deep in the neutral zone? If so, tainted an otherwise great night.
Reimer might not be a bad gamble, though I would  keep him on a short lease. Time for Kessel to break out at home.
Think Lupul should have been used in shoot-out.

Totally agree. I liked the looks of the leafs and something to build on.  a couple of flukes and we hit the post how many times. Puck was bouncing all over the place and Bozaks goal was in IMO. take the point and fix it back at home. with that intencity.

Look on the bright side. That's the first game all season the Leafs lost when leading after 2. Just in time for the stretch drive!

The Leafs, post-lockout, seem to handle the puck like a live grenade during the final five minutes of a game they're winning by a goal or two more than any other team I've ever seen. Maybe that's an illusion based upon the amount of time watching the Leafs compared to other teams, I don't know ...

Regardless, that didn't appear to be the case this year at all. Tonight was a fantastic throwback to it though.

Making the playoffs would be nice, but finishing 6th would be do a lot more than 7th or 8th. Results like tonight's just make it that much harder to achieve that.

...as are the assistant coaches.

However Wilson not only remains, he gets an extension.

Same cinema showing the same movie for four years.

I saw the movie twice last year but I refuse to go back until they change the matinee

I was worried about a game like this coming out of the all star break. The terrible defensive effort to blow a big lead in the 3rd, another goal in the final minute...

Sigh. I had a feeling something went wrong when I came back and saw that the thread was 21 pages.... oh well. :(

I'm glad I listened to this one -- saving my bandwidth allowance for tomorrow.  If I were watching I would have developed an aneurysm.
