Game 51: Pens @ Maple Leafs, 7:30 - No Meltdown, please!

Don't have much confidence in our PP lately but would be nice to pot one now and close the deal on this game.

Wow, bad break for the Pens there, catching a 3rd post right before the goal....

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I guess you never watched the last game!

I already stated I missed last nights game I see they were 1-3 did they have a lot of good chances?

It makes sense to start Reimer, and I predict he'll respond with a good game and a win for us.

As for whether it's him or Gus who needs to get going, I'd say it's both.  That was, after all, the gameplan to start the season.

:)

I'm not sure if this game showed that Reimer is "back" but he was certainly solid in net and deserving of the shutout.  He didn't really remind me of the Reimer of last year though where he was very aggressive positionally and really took away pretty much everything but very high glove side.  I think Allaire has done a great job of settling down his goaltenders and getting them to play bigger in the net but also getting them to work on finding their anchors when moving laterally.  4 shutouts in the past month for the Leafs is something really nice to see.

And while it doesn't make up for the atrocious collapse last night, taking 3 of 4 from the Penguins is not a bad result (Mind you its really 3 of 5).

Big stretch coming up too as 6 of the next 7 games are all winnable/important.

Ottawa Saturday; Edmonton/Winnipeg back to back; (Philadelphia); Montreal and then Calgary/Edmonton back to back on two days rest.

Big two points tonight. Move ahead of the Devils (though, they have 2 games in hand), stay ahead of Florida and move ahead of Washington (if Florida hangs on to win). Also, move within 2 of Ottawa with 2 games in hand.
