Game 51: Pens @ Maple Leafs, 7:30 - No Meltdown, please!

I'm not sure if that shows that Reimer is "back" but he was certainly solid there and deserving of the shutout.  He didn't really remind me of the Reimer of last year though, I think Allaire has done a great job of settling down his goaltenders and getting them to play bigger in the net in general.  4 shutouts in the past month for the Leafs is something really nice to see.

And while it doesn't make up for the atrocious collapse last night, taking 3 of 4 from the Penguins is not a bad result.

I almost think it does, really.  Last night was a fluke, pure and simple, with a goal taken away and Malkin lucking out in the end.  For them to hang in there in tight game, get a goal with less than 6 left and then defend that lead solidly -- well, that's what a playoff-caliber team does.

Nice. I'll take 3 of 4 anytime against the Pens.

Before tonights game the Leafs had managed to work their way up to 8th in times shorthanded and continue their impressive turnaround on the pk, outstanding!

Kulemin with 5 quiet points in his last 3 games, that line is finally clicking.

John Mitchell in the shoot out for the Rags???!!! Torts, whaaa?

He's actually pretty good at it. The Leafs used him in it on a regular basis when he was here with a fair degree of success.

Three points in the home and home against the Pens - not bad at all!

And the Leafs temporarily leapfrog the Devils, and likely the Caps, too, who are currently trailing Florida 3-1....

:-\  the GameDayBears aren't very happy about the lack of goal scoring.

Get them ready. This third period belongs to us.

ditto...

going to be an interesting (and fun hopefully) second half of the season (and playoffs hopefully).

That's how he got the Evgeni Mitchell handle!

I think a lot of us were thinking it was the Panthers that would fade in the South Least - the Caps look like they may make it a turtle race yet.

Reminds me of a few years ago and the same division - either you win the division or you're out of the playoffs. 3rd or 9th. All or nothing. Just crazy.

Good win!  3 out of 4 points is very acceptable against Pittsburgh.

I'm gonna go and call a truce with the Hockey Gods for last night... Scoring only 1 goal against Pitts AND having them hit 3 posts and we still manage 2 points?  Yeah that's a little lucky... So it evens out a bit from last night.

Either way, keep winning boys!  I'll be at the game Saturday and would love nothing more than a win.

Am I the only one that gets a little annoyed that Leafs TV cuts off Wilson, so we can watch more of the terrible post game show they have? I mean, why would I want to listen to these people talk about the game, when I can hear from the coach? I hate that!

Man, that was exactly the kind of game Reimer needed. Shutout not withstanding, he caught a few breaks, made a handful of very good saves and was just a steady presence in the crease, once he settled down/shook off the rust.

More please.
