Game 51: Pens @ Maple Leafs, 7:30 - No Meltdown, please!

Was actually able to see the game tonight on TSN and was somewhat impressed with the Leafs play... I hate to admit it but even Armstrong made a difference...as a $3 MIL 4th liner.  ;D

I hope that either Schenn or Komisarek get moved with Connolly for a skilled tough guy upfront.  I am not sure how much I would tinker with the team from tonights lineup.

Having Liles and Army back feels weird.

I thought it was like adding talent through a trade without giving up any assets.  I don't know if that makes sense but that is what I was feeling tonight.

Very good rebound game for the leafs. It is nice to see Reimer get the shut out. And to see MAC-GAB-KUL line score. But what happened to the Kessel line. they have disappeared over the last 6 games.

teams have definitely adjusted their approach to kessel's line..some of that has involved a lot of stick work and dirty plays that don't seem to be called....on the other hand ..this focus seems to have opened up opportunities for grabovski's line ...i think their success and failure are linked...it's hard to get both lines hot at the same time for that reason

Good win!  3 out of 4 points is very acceptable against Pittsburgh.

I'm gonna go and call a truce with the Hockey Gods for last night... Scoring only 1 goal against Pitts AND having them hit 3 posts and we still manage 2 points?  Yeah that's a little lucky... So it evens out a bit from last night.

Either way, keep winning boys!  I'll be at the game Saturday and would love nothing more than a win.

Although last night we hit a few posts AND had a legit goal called back AND had a goal with 6 seconds left deflect off a shoulder and go in.

Not even with me yet.

Even enough on the short-term, but, long-term . . . I think the Leafs are still owed some, but, that could just be my bias speaking.

Yeah kind of, also that the Leaf were playing ok without them too.

Though he was last among the d in ice time I thought Schenn had a good night for the most part.

Most of the time Schenn does play well, it is when he makes a mistake. It is a glaring one which for the most part causes us to lose games.

I don't know how many hits Luke had, but he was a force out there and Brown also threw the body which we need a lot more guys throwing some checks. Another solid game and heading in the right direction.

It should come as no surrorise that teams are targetting the Kessel/Lupul line.  That was bound to happen, which leads to why it is so important for a team to have a strong second unit.

Speaking of that second unit, Grabovski's play of late is indicative of his leadership to get his line out of the offensive doldrums and into the fire, so to speak.  Loved when Grabo ljumped up with excitement after Mac's goal.  This line is finally coming together.

Reiner played well, not perfect, but well enough to hold the shutout (with a little help from some posts & crossbars).  Another positive step for the beleaguered Leaf.  Hope he keeps up a winning pace.  We need both Gus & Reimer to be solid.

Having the injured return to the lineup was a boon and an uplift for the club.  A full lineup should help the Leafs battle for that elusive playoff spot.  No more (major) injuries.  (*keepiing fingers crossed *}.

Go LEAFS GO!!

Secondary scoring arrived just in time since we seem to have lost our primary scoring.  Hope Kessel and Lupul get going on Saturday.

Macarthur has been a little suspect in various areas of his game, but one thing he hasn't seemed to lack his finish.  Seems to make the best of his chances, particularly compared to other guys.

Schenn logged 14:00 of ice time, nad had 6 Hits and 2 BS. By far the best game by Luke in a while.

Still has those brain cramps. With under a minute to go Steckel won the draw back to Luke cleanly. He just softly tried to clear the puck right to the left point dman. He has to make that play and get the puck out..
