I was all in favor of going with this tandem for this season, and I don't regret it.  Although it's hard to separate the crappy D from the crappy goaltending, the main point of going with Reimer/Gus is to see which of them, if either, is truly #1 material.  It's beginning to look like neither.

Mirtle posted awhile back about (re: Reimer) most goalies see a drop off in sv% in year 2 that was consistent with that of Reimer's.

It's a broken record with the Leafs now. We've been looking for a #1 goalie since Belfour.

And Mirtle was just pointing out the reality that exists with a young goaltender, even one that goes on to be a clear #1, that there will typically be a 2nd year drop-off that doesn't necessarily mean the goalie is not #1 calibre.

They worked their tales off to get back in the game only to have Gus let in another soft one. Pretty tough to keep your confidence up when that happens.

Damn Leafs had a great chance to tie after those Gustavsson saves. C'mon keep pushing, they aren't giving up.

Doomage. They gotta stop thinking Bordeur is invincible.

You don't let Kovulchuk break like that. Man these guys have to learn to play both ends.

Go Leafs....Please.

Do the Leafs not know how to skate?  I was going to make a comment about how bad the ice has been because the Leafs have been falling all over the ice, but New Jersey doesn't seem to be falling every 30 seconds.
