Game 9: Hurricanes @ Leafs 7:00PM Monday on SportsNet

Here's a stink bomb tweet from Mirtle to try and spoil those of us hoping for a breakout game from Kessel tonight...

"Phil Kessel's career numbers are terrible against Carolina for some reason. Five goals in 24 games and a minus-9. 'Canes dominant at ACC."

The Leafs should win this one handily so long as they don't mail it in.  Is Maurice still the coach for Carolina?

I've heard a few people thinking this will be an easy win and I don't get why.  I see Staal, Skinner, Staal and Semin, all 4 of who would probably play on the Leafs top 2 lines.  How is this an easy game?

Leafs will counter all those S's with our K's....

Kulemin, Kadri, Komarov and Kessel!!

ok, so with all the talk of eric staal being a beast against toronto

James reimer is a career 3-0-1 with a 1.42GAA and a 9.49 save percentage against carolina.

Cam Ward 12-8-2 with a 2.87 GAA and a 9.06 save percentage against toronto.

most important position?

Any way we can get Tim Brent back before tonight's game so he can do this to the 'Canes tonight?

4 goals and 9 points in 12 games as a Leaf versus Carolina.

Memo to Randy Carlyle. Can we please see: Kadri Frattin Kessel,  Kulemin JVR Grabs, Bozak Komarov MacArthur, Mclement Hamilton Brown.

P.S. Phaneuf and Kostka 20-22 mins TOPS. Franson first PP unit.

That was the best single shift of any Leaf in recent memory. I loved Tim Brent. He's a UFA this off-season, Nonis should have him on the phone.

Ward has a GAA of over 4 this season.. maybe tonight is Kessel's night? The Leafs do seem to be good at helping other teams/players out of slumps though.. Anyway, Leafs win 5-2.

The best PK ever for Timmy... I remember he took a stand ovation when they showed him on the screen after the kill... Loved his time in TO.

This kill is also amazing... http://youtu.be/rFo69jVg5t0

I'd forgotten about that PK.  I find sequences like that considerably more entertaining than most goals for.  That was awesome.

Hamilton has already been sent back to the Marlies, and Brown is out at least until the end of the week.

Take out Steckel, historically great at face-offs, to put MacArthur at C and leave Orr and McLaren in?  What do they do to earn continued ice time?

#Leafs lines, JVR-Bozak-Kessel, McClement-Grabovski-Kulemin, Frattin-Kadri-Koarmov, Orr-MacArthur-McLaren.

:o :-\

I'm a little surprised he isn't being stuck with Kadri in Komorov's place - Mac's one skill since joining the team has been his ability to finish, and Kadri's the best set-up guy right now.  I have a feeling we'll see it before the night is through.
