Those empty seats behind the Leafs bench are hilarious. That's a lot worse than usual.

Sooner or later this will get the attention of Shanahan's bosses and then ... ba-boom.

Once again, MacKenzie the voice of reason on Kessel.

What did he say, I missed the intermission so far.

He's the only one that said they should keep him.

I'm no longer sure that they should, assuming they can get a good return for him.

What's a good return though? A draft pick that may someday be nearly as good as Kessel?

Well no, not necessarily. A good 1st would be a must (preferably with a shot at 5-15), plus a good young roster player and a prospect.

Would Calgary do TJ Brodie, Baertschi and a 1st?

It would take me some time to come up with other ideas but that's the kind of thing I'd be looking to do. Could also move him straight up for a younger, more complete player. Straight up for Forsberg?

I think there are lots of potential deals out there.

Jonathan Bernier under Horachek - .873 SV%

Can't win if you don't score.  You also can't win if your goaltending sucks. (No I am not attributing the losing to Bernier alone...just pointing out that he really hasn't been good).

I've heard it said that the Ballard years were worse. In terms of on ice performance, I really can't see how.

Hey man, Shanahan is watching! He is. AND he will do something if the team doesn't respond to that talking to he gave them 2 weeks ago. Got it?

Yeah  I'd rather keep Phaneuf if I could only keep one player on the team.  Defencemen that can play in all situations are rare.

I'm pretty sure decisions have been made on the future of quite a few players.

I'm having more fun watching the dog trying to lick the peanut butter out of the bottom of the jar than this game.......  (butter tarts are in the oven)

you mean the lack of goals thing?  is it too morbid to hope for a shutout if a loss is in the cards.  i wonder if they will be outraged by the jersey throwing at the end.

LOL.  Clarkson now on the 2nd line.  Sweet magic.

Did you see that stick tap when the Carolina goalie was trying to pass the puck up the ice? I almost had a heart attack laughing.

I really hope so. What's more is that the only players that are really responsible for the debacle of the team of recent years are Phaneuf, Kessel, Franson, JVR, Bozak, Kadri and Gardiner.

JVR and Kadri are young enough and have shown strides in other areas of their games that I'd keep them around. Everyone else should disappear. Polak and Santorelli have shown enough this year to warrant staying on IMO.
