Kadri "made available" -according to 2 teams

Kadri shouldn't be traded.  Let a young player actually work through some struggles for once in Toronto without bombarding him with trade rumours as soon as he hits a rough patch.

In most cases I would back that type of analogy, but I'm much more agreeable to trading youth for youth, providing the trade has the potential to be a steal for the Leafs. I believe Gagner will become the better player of the two, perhaps by a substantial margin.

I guess anything's possible but what really makes you sure of this? Gagner is one year older and his best season has been 18 goals and 47 points. His totals this year are significantly worse than Kadri's. A struggling Kadri is still worth far more than Gagner alone right now.

Yeah, no . . . Gagner might become the more complete player, but Kadri is and will be the more skilled player.

Based on what though?  Granted I don't get to follow Gagner closely, but their career NHL totals thus far are at a basically identical PPG pace.  Gagner has significantly more games due to coming into the league early, but thus far hasn't shown he has that next level to his game.

I agree, I wouldn't do Kadri for Gagner straight up. There would have to be a very good prospect or higher pick coming back with him IMO.

I really don't think that's true. Kadri is equal to Gagner as a creative offensively minded player (with better PPG stats to this point in his career) and has him beat in the physical aspect of the game. They both need to work on their defensive games.

Gagner has had more time in the league with more opportunities (playing at various times with Hall, Eberle, RNH, Yakupov, Hemsky etc.) and has yet to show he's more than a 40-45 pt player (outside of last season) in close to 450 games.

If they're entertaining the idea of moving Kadri it shouldn't be for a similar (potentially worse) version of the same kind of player. This team needs more rounded players who can score, win face-offs and actually take care of their defensive responsibilities.

I also wouldn't trade Kadri for a player plus a prospect. I'd much rather trade Kadri +, + for a real stud if I could. Reason being is that I'm not 100% sure we can be contenders going forward with Kessel being the only bonafide star on the team.

This is what I was getting at. Gagner, I believe, will be the more complete player of the two.

And he might be, but, the difference in skill will still make Kadri the more valuable player.

That's probably true as far as trade value goes, but I'm sure the coach's may not always see it that way.

Kadri needs a few games upstairs to watch the game. Actually on the 24/7 show he came off as a little dense so perhaps he needs to view a few from the eagles perspective and then go back to work.

Kadri + Reimer for Monahan + Ramo? - Massage it a little one way or another? - Thinking Burke would want more.

I don't think Monahan is going anywhere. I also don't think Burke makes any major acquisitions while he pretends to conduct a search for the next Flames GM. Until he officially concedes that he thinks he's the best candidates, it'll be minor moves and selling pieces at the deadline.

I don't think so either.  :-\

Trade Kadri to the Flames for their 1st and use Holland.

Why not just trade Holland for the 1st?

As of Sunday, if Holland plays every game till then, the conditional draft pick included in the deal becomes a 2nd rounder, instead of a 3rd.
