Are we allowed to pick him back up, if he comes down the list to us?

Yessir

Thanks!

Not gonna happen, but a boy can dream...

I dunno, if the Leafs are the only team to claim him they can send him directly down to the AHL. When the Leafs put him on waivers he probably went through about half the league, I'm not sure exactly where Florida was on the pecking order at that time. So if they feel like he can go through the rest of the list unclaimed this time it might be worth trying to grab him and stash him on the Marlies. Especially considering it looks like Kapanen might be out for awhile.

O rly! He's wasted on the Leafs now that we don't have a Holland, but if he gets to go directly to the AHL...

If I worked for the team, I would definitely put in a claim anyway. Free Brendan Leipsic's a free Brendan Leipsic.

Does the 10-game 30 day on NHL roster thing apply?  He's played 21 games for the Panthers.

CBA Section on this:

13.22 When a Club claims a Player on Regular or Unconditional Waivers, and, subsequently,
in the same season it requests Waivers on the same Player and the original owning Club is the
successful and only Club making a Waiver claim, then the original owning Club shall be entitled
to Loan such Player to a club in another league within thirty days without further Waivers being
asked; provided that such Player has not participated in ten or more NHL Games (cumulative)
and remained on an NHL roster more than thirty days (cumulative) following such successful
claim

The last statement, I'm unsure if the 10-game 30-day thing is from the time the "original" team lost its player or AFTER the original team gets it's player back.  (ie.  Leafs can re-claim him, and provided nobody else puts a claim in on him, they can keep him in the NHL for up to 9 games/29 days before sending him down without requiring waivers)

Do you know if Boston also has the same option as the Leafs?  They also lost him on waivers this year so I do think they could, so it would be interesting if the only two teams to put in a claim are the Bruins and Leafs hoping to send him directly to the AHL- but they screw each other over because there were two claims!

I didn't realize the Marlies had such a bad record.

Marner + Matthews skipped the AHL.
Leivo is in purgatory between injured and graduated.
Nylander, Carrick, Hyman, Brown, Soshnikov, Gauthier all graduated from the AHL.
TJ Brennan, Mark Arcobello and Richard Panik had sizeable roles on the team last year.

Couple that with Bibeau not being very good and the Marlies got decimated from last season.

Although that's true and all, the replacements haven't really done much.

16 more games for the Leafs and he can be re-signed for next year as one of the eligible forwards in the expansion draft.  Unless the Leafs are exposing Martin and Komarov.
