Leafs Injury Updates

Franson should have his chance to stay in the line-up for few in a row now, lets hope he can perform.

Since both Lombardi and Komisarek are probably headed to the IR, we should expect a couple call-ups.

Looks like Clarke's injury isn't as bad as the others:

TSNScottyMac Scott MacArthur
Ron Wilson expressed hope that Clarke MacArthur would play Tuesday, Game 2 of the 4-game road trip, in Tampa Bay. #Leafs #NHL

If Mac is back and Connolly can stay healthy until at least Grabovski is back, we might be able to weather the storm a bit, especailly if Colborne or Kadri can come up and contribute.

TO Star link: Leafs? Lombardi and Komisarek out three weeks
Both Matt Lombardi and Mike Komisarek ? hurt in Thursday?s loss to the Predators ? will be lost to the team for up to three weeks, coach Ron Wilson said Friday morning at a short, quick practice.

Both players suffered upper body injuries ? believed to be arm or hand injuries. The Leafs had just lost Mikhail Grabovski for about two weeks, and Clark MacArthur.
...
In addition, Mike Brown is suffering from another ?upper body? injury. He is questionable for Saturday?s game against Washington, Wilson said.

So Brown is hurt a little as well.

Brown ad Armstrong have been very frustrating with their injury record.  Good players and I know that their health is a byproduct of how they play but man they miss a lot Time

I would say right now the most critical guys to get back are:

1. Reimer
2. Armstrong

Reimer for very obvious reasons and Armstrong because they need his checking game and they also need his ability to get the team to loosen up.

Grabbo and Mac weren't exactly providing a whole lot of much other than "okay" defensive games.

Connolly might be the guy to get Kulemin going.  In fact he was flipped back to LW last night at some point and he looked waaaaaayy better.. to me that is the change that hasn't been noticed this year and I don't know why the experiment continued (Kulemin & Mac switching wings)

I disagree.  The most critical ones to get back are:

1.  Reimer
2.  Reimer
3.  Reimer
4.  Reimer
5.  Reimer
6.  Reimer
7.  Reimer
8.  Reimer
9.  Reimer's mom
10.  Feschuk

We really miss the last 2 on the PK.

Couldn't agree more. Lombardi was playing an apprehensive type of game. The more distance he puts between himself and the concussion the better. Komi can be replaced. Mac is coming back. Grabo will be missed. Reimer coming back soon overshadows ALL the bad news today.

There are a lot of people here who seem to think that when Reimer comes back everything will be all better. While I agree that Reimer is the best goalie the Leafs have and that the team will play more confidently knowing he is in net I also have to say that if the team keeps playing like the past couple of weeks then Reimer won't do a lot to change things.

I don't know.  I know Grabovski wasn't exactly producing much (in comoparison to Armstrongs not at all) but Grabs is easily one of the teams best forwards.  Armstrong is a decent third liner sure but Grabovski makes our secondary scoring go.

Let's be honest here, for us to compete we need all hands on deck.  Reimer first and foremost.

I think the skaters have played pretty well the last couple of games. I think their record would be different if a 2010-11 Reimer had been playing for them over those games he's missed.

The bigger question for me is what kind of  Reimer will we get back. The guy we saw last year or the guy who wasn't as sharp this year and may still have cobwebs when he returns.

If we eventually get the 2010-11 Reimer, there's no doubt in my mind that they'll be a significantly more formidable club.

Well yeah I fully agree with your last point.  They go nowhere without Reimer and they go somewhere with everyone on board. Hopefully the next 3/4 of the season bring some better luck with injuries.

While getting some scoring back would be good, Grabbo wasn't tearing it up when he went down and I think right now getting a calming presence back is critical - before the team completely starts to squeeze sticks and spiral into a long losing streak. Plus the physical game Army brings is also key.

I believe the popular thinking is when Reimer gets back the team won't keep playing like the past couple of weeks.  Confidence, etc.  Remember last year we stunk as well until Reimer got his start in January and the Leafs took off.  We were a worse team on paper last season than this season (when healthy)

I doubt we see both Kadri and colborne.

I don't think Brown is definitely out and I think Dupuis will play ahead of Orr.

Here's all of the injuries in a nice, convenient list courtesy of Mirtle in the G & M:

1. James Reimer (concussion-like symptoms) ? Was back on the ice for the first time in weeks on Friday, but even the best-case scenario likely means he?s another two weeks away.

2. Mikhail Grabovski (leg) ? Out for what Ron Wilson deemed to be ?at least? two weeks after leaving Tuesday?s game in the third period.

3. Clarke MacArthur (upper body) ? Remains day-to-day and is expected to miss both weekend games. May be able to play Tuesday in Tampa.

4. Mike Komisarek (wrist) ? Took a puck off the arm in Nashville and may have a broken bone. Will miss a minimum of three weeks.

5. Colby Armstrong (ankle sprain) ? Has missed all but five games and still isn?t expected back for another month.

6. Matt Lombardi (arm/shoulder) ? Hurt taking a faceoff in Nashville and will also miss a minimum of three weeks.

7. Mike Brown (undisclosed) ? Was injured Thursday before the game but is only day-to-day. Could play this weekend.

And so the Hockey gods just keep slapping us leaf fans down. this is just baaaad.

If Reimer can come back and play at the top of his game like he did in spots last season, everything will start to get better. This team is better than their results have shown the past few weeks.
