Wilson: "I can't say the number of days it's going to take but hopefully sometime in the future we'll find him back in net again."

As opposed to sometime in the past.

Or sometime in the future he will be running a hot dog stand in Toledo, OH.

Just when I thought he was finding his legs.

Some guys, if it wasn't for bad luck, would have no luck at all.

We got some games out of him this year that to be honest defied logic but this one might be something that kills his career.  I'm not sure how well he is going to handle essentially losing 2 years in a row (assuming he eventually gets the surgery and ends his season).  It always seems like this is how these scenarios play out.  They say he can either get the surgery now or do it later but eventually they end up being stuck doing it sooner because they get a setback or nothing heals the way they hope.

well if he can wait until the end of the season for surgery and can play with it he should only be out for six weeks. He is still young enough for these injuries to heal quick

Reimer finally meets with the media: "I missed you guys," he says.

:) He's a funny guy.

Off topic, but my gosh, the guy in the Tim Horton's commercial looks like Reimer!  It's freaky!  He has the guy from American Pie (Sherminator) and the Tim Horton's guy. 8)

REIMER EXPECTS TO TAKE FULL PRACTICE IN DALLAS

2. Mike Brown has missed the last four games with an undisclosed injury. The 26-year-old was reluctant to reveal the nature of his injury in conversation with the Leaf Report on Tuesday, but it seems likely to be related to a groin injury he played with during the second half of last season. Brown had minor surgery on the area in the summer, but struggled to recover. He began skating in early August, but was forced to pull back shortly thereafter. In training camp, the issue lingered and Brown was forced to miss the entire preseason, fortunate to play on opening night.

It would appear that the injury has resurfaced. Brown took part in the pre-game in Nashville, but was forced to pull out as a late scratch. He has not played since. In Tampa, he expressed frustration that the injury was not improving as he had hoped.

Dallas is statistically the top hitting club in the NHL (ignoring the home bias quality of those stats league wide). While trying to get out of their slump, they returned to pounding the Oilers with 47? hits following a 53? hit effort. Leafs could really miss Brown in Dallas.

"There's a possibility that Grabovski will be ready to play this Sunday in Anaheim," Wilson said.

"We're not going to rush someone back from that type of injury just because maybe a goaltender or two goalies have been struggling," he said. ( Wilson )

Jonas just can't catch a break, though that's the first time I've seen him include, maybe, Scrivens in that equation...

I know, that 1.00 GAA his last two games, talk about fighting the puck.

Yeah, where's Allaire and his 'in game' numbers, .964 and .976, hello?

As long as the team is happy for him like Kessel was last game I guess we can parse it how we like, eh? ;)

Looks like Reimer is still a couple of weeks away.  >:(

DALLAS ? James Reimer will remain out at least another ten days.

From the sounds of things it could be a conditioning issue? Any thoughts of trying him with the Marlies first?  :-\

That's what I was thinking, why not send him for a conditioning stint?  That's fairly standard procedure after a long layoff no?

Marlies have three games starting a week tomorrow - the last two at home.

Makes sense.

Really?

So every goalie, or every player for that matter, who is out for a month or so with an injury should go to the minors for conditioning? I don't think so.

Not necessarily, I would think that's obvious. Goalies are a little different and the team could quickly suffer if Reimer needs some time to re adjust, it's just a safer way for him to get his game timing back but it's not the only way to go either. It wasn't presented as a catch all course, rather of horse if you get my drift.

I don't think it could really hurt, fwiw, even just a game or two.

No but in this case it would be good to have your goalie play a few games that don't mean anything to the Leafs in the standings and get his timing back.  I believe they sent Gustavsson for a conditioning stint after his injury.

Well, with goalies, yeah, a game or two on a conditioning stint is probably a good idea. You don't have the luxury of easing a goalie back in the same way you do with a skater. You can't start him out on a lower line or cut back on his shifts. Once you throw a goalie on to the ice for an NHL game, you have to know they're able to go the distance.

No, I didn't say that.

Firstly, the player must agree to it.
Secondly, the league must agree that the team isn't circumventing the CBA - which they clearly aren't in Reimer's case.

I'm fuzzy on this but I think even a player who has sat in the press box for a long time could go on a conditioning stint if he agrees to it.

They'd still receive their NHL money (stated for those on 2-way deals).

Reimer, because he's been off as long as he has, is definitely eligible and I'd be shocked if the league turned such a request down. It is often in the best interest of the health of the player - if the player is agreeable.
