Just when I thought he was finding his legs.

Some guys, if it wasn't for bad luck, would have no luck at all.

We got some games out of him this year that to be honest defied logic but this one might be something that kills his career.  I'm not sure how well he is going to handle essentially losing 2 years in a row (assuming he eventually gets the surgery and ends his season).  It always seems like this is how these scenarios play out.  They say he can either get the surgery now or do it later but eventually they end up being stuck doing it sooner because they get a setback or nothing heals the way they hope.

Yup.  Look at Peter Regin for the Sens.

He had shoulder surgery, killed his season, came back this year and re-injured his shoulder.  They are saying he may need another operation or can try and play through it.  It's likely his season is over again and possibly his career (although he is still very young.)

Too bad about Lombardi.  It would have been nice to see him come back, play this year, train hard in the summer without rehabilitating something the come back next year fully prepared.  Looks like that won't be the case regardless of how his shoulder holds up.

He's re-injured that shoulder twice since he came back this year.

Basically furthers L K's point.

DarrenDreger: Confirming Lombardi shoulder dislocation.  May need surgery in the future...not imminent at the moment.

I can share my experience with shoulder dislocation.  I am an average dude, not a pro athlete, and I was able to play full board hockey about 5 weeks after my dislocation.  I did end up having surgery and that was a full 4-5 month recovery.  He will probably need surgery, but I remember asking my surgeon if surgery was always the correct course for dislocation.  He said most cases it is, just so it doesn't come out as easy in the future, but he said it is rarely need right away.

Reimer updates... (Reimer to speak to the media shortly)

@sunhornby Just guessing, but with Reimer expected to get in at least two practices on this road trip, he might play in Anaheim on Sunday.

@jonasTSN1050 More Wilson: [Reimer] hasn?t had any setbacks or plateaus or anything. It?s still a process to get back into shape."

Wilson: "I can't say the number of days it's going to take but hopefully sometime in the future we'll find him back in net again."

Looks like Reimer right now is on a path to returning to the lineup and its now a matter of getting back into shape and game ready, if he's not having any more recurring headaches or other issues.

That's great news! I'll assume Wilson won't put him between the pipes until his conditioning is completely back on track. Sunday might be a little optimistic. My guess is he's thrown into the lions den against the Bruins his first game back. Yikes!

EDIT: If Lucic bowls him over I'm gonna lose it!!

I actually like this scenario better.  Bruins have been our nemesis of late, having Reimer starting against them will be a huge motivating factor for the entire Leafs team, and they *should* play their hearts out.  Could finally beat Boston in that case.

Looks that way.  I imagine they will still err on the side of caution.  I guess how our goalies fair tonight and friday against Dallas will also have a lot to do with it.  If we get decent to good goaltending in these next 2 games I would guess next Wed against Boston could be a likely jump on point.  The problem then is, do you want Reimer to play his first game back in 6+ weeks against the Bruins?

Ah, nothings easy  ???

That picture of him with all the mics in front of him put a huge smile on my  face.  It's been far too long.  Things are getting close!

James reimet says he hopes to be back soon. Its all about conditioning right now.

Looks like it's only a matter of time now.  I'd say Sunday or Wed are good bets.

I think this news is collectively lifting Leafs Nation spirits right now.  Hopefully the "mini-slump" is over, the Leafs play well tonight and we look forward to his return next week!

Naah... what better team to come back and stone, and shut up their annoying faces.  8)

As opposed to sometime in the past.
