Line-up changes

I wouldn't be suprised to see Grab's line broken up and might be a good shot in the arm.
My take:
Lupul Bozak Kessel
Kadri Grabo Frattin
Mac Lombo Kulie
Orr Steckel Brown

Franso to sit and Komi back in.

If we are playing with lines, it might be fun to play:

Lupul Bozak Kessel
Kulie Grabo Kadri
Mac Lombo Frattin
Orr Steckel Brown

Grabbo and Kulie are both pretty tough on the puck and they
both like to shoot. Kadri might work well with them.  Mac might work well setting Frattin up for shots ...

Yeah both our versions work for me.  Frattin works hard on the ice and finishes his checks well.  Loves hitting the post a bit too much.
Grabo's line looked good in preseason so hopefully they come right quickly.

Ron Wilson on Bozak today: "We'll see how he feels tomorrow ... If a player's not ready to go 100% and we have other people who can, that's what we base our decision on."

Wilson hopeful that both Connolly and Bozak will return Thursday.

Even just getting one of those guys back would be a big boost. Wonder if that means Kadri goes down?

It's a good question. Much tougher to answer than in the last few seasons. I think one spot will almost definitely have to come at the expense of one of Rosehill or Colton Orr, which I don't think is as cut and dry for the coaching staff as one might think. I believe that Wilson prefers Jay Rosehill, because of his better play when he's not throwing knuckles.

The other spot, you'd think would be between Kadri, Frattin or Gardiner, which as of right now, also isn't as cut and dry, as I'm sure Wilson likes what all of those players are contributing right now. Otherwise, Wilson might have to force Burke to make a trade to clear up a spot and it'd be anybodies guess who would be the odd man out.

I think you have to in the short term, but I don't think he deserves to go down.  I really don't like that Rosehill and Orr have spots on this team.  Staged fights mean nothing.

With signs pointing to Connolly being ready for tomorrow, a roster spot will need to be opened up.

My money is on Kadri being demoted.

Tim Connolly on a line with Kessel and Lupul in practice today. Bozak on third line with Frattin and Lombardi.

Scrivens was returned to the minors but Leafs are still one body over the roster limit. Kadri appears to be odd man out if Connolly plays.

Probably so.  I thought he's looked pretty decent so far, but he might as well be getting more minutes down below.

I'd rather they keep him up and give him more minutes here.  He can at least contribute offensively (or has the potential to).  I'd rather get rid of someone who doesn't do much, like Rosehill.  Why do we have him again?

Rosehill's barely been getting 6 minutes a game though. So if he gets sent down Kadri would either be getting fourth line minutes or someone else would see their ice time cut.

For sure. If both Connolly and Bozak return I don't see how Kadri stays up...

Lupul    Connolly  Kessel
Mac        Grabbo  Kulemin
Lombardi Bozak    Frattin
Steckel  Dupuis  Brown

Might be good for Kadri to experience some top minutes with Colborne.

To Burke's credit Toronto finally has some depth.

Well put. There's a difference between quantity and depth.

Sure, I can see holding that opinion but I wouldn't hang my hat on it, just acknowledging that Kadri doesn't have to be the second coming and can be sent down without a huge amount of hand wringing seems like a good sign to me.

Also, we'll have to see just how Connolly fits in but I think it's fair to say the Leafs are leaps and bounds ahead in the depth department than they were two years ago.

I don't know if I'd give the top line and top minutes to Connolly right away - particularly when Kessel is hot. I guess that also depends on his fitness and what he's been doing in practice, etc. I wouldn't be out of sorts if they let Bozak ride the hot wave a little longer while Connolly gets up to speed. Connolly could help with checking and the PK (he's supposed to be decent at that) while he finds his timing and legs.

Kadri needs to continue to get ice time so I'd send him down. There are bound to be more injuries and opportunities throughout the year for him.
