Good for daryl boyce. Good chance to prove himself and get a contract. I thought he helped turn arond leafs pk. Quality guy.

The greatest 13 minutes of PK time ever?

Good old Doug MacLean. Always good for a laugh at his expense.

Guess that's confirmed now:

TSNBobMcKenzie: CBJ claims Darryl Boyce from TOR.

Dime a dozen player, UFA at the end of the year. Meh.

he gave 100% every shift, was very reliable defensively and is an excellent skater.... i wouldn't exactly refer to him as a Dime a Dozen player.  He was good enough to  take a line-up spot away from Armstrong.  He played with a work ethic and fearlessness that is severely lacking throughout the rest of the line-up.

lol to be fair that must cover about the past 20 games or so of PK. :)

Apparently the chunk of his nose left in the ACC glass was not part of the waiver claim... Could be included in part of a deal for Nash... Details to follow.

Armstrong is as bad a signing as Komi turned out to be and like I have said before is a contract as untradeable as Komi's.  Burke has not faired very well on the UFA front, not surprised he prefers the trade route.

It really is a meh move.  But Armstrong has looked awful and I liked Boyce's energy much more this year.  Obviously from a career standpoint, Armstrong has been the better player, but take away the bloated contract and the wrong guy was sent to the waiver wires.

Every team has a guy like that. I liked Boyce, but he was a 4th liner, nothing more.

Fixed.

Fixed.

If it was me, for the last 18 games, this would be my line-up.

Wilson fired, Burke down on the bench, but let Gordon do all the leg work as interim head coach. Burke is there so the guys know he's serious.

Lupul - Connolly - Kessel
Mac - Grabo - Kuli
Army - Bozak - Frattin
Brown - Steckel - Crabb/Lombardi

Dion - Gunnarsson
Franson - Liles
Schenn - Gardiner

Gus
Reimer (sits on the bench for the remainder of the season)

Let the dice roll, *try* and play more of a defensive system (when playing without the puck), *try* and use your speed from giveaways / plays off the rush, try more of a cycle game once the O-zone has been gained.

Keep things simple, pucks out of the d-zone up the boards, when there's no play to be made, get the puck up and out to a safe area.

Beyond that, there is nothing else this team can do this year, it's been the most disappointing February I've ever seen.

There's no point to this part. Burke would never do that, he's not a coach. Besides, if he was to fire Wilson, the two main assistants both have head coaching experience.

Lou Lam isn't a coach either and it worked for the Devils a few years ago when he fired Ftorek? with 2 or 3 weeks before the season and Lou went behind the bench. Sometimes extraordinary circumstances take extraordinary measures. I don't want them to name a new coach yet, I'd let one of the assistants be the interim, but I think Burke behind the bench says something to the players.

"I've got an ego and no trust in the assistant coaches"

That's what it would say to me.

No I don't think it says that at all.

When Lou did it they WERE in a pretty nice play-off spot, not spiraling to the depths of the NHL floor.

I don't trust the coaching staff. See Leafs - freefall, coaches not adjusting, playing a style that is not winning games and easily defended against when the games have meaning.

I actually like Ron Wilson, but he's not a fit for this team, a change needs to be done, but I don't think a new hire right now makes sense.

Didn't they fire Ftorek cause he was slowly losing it around that time? He threw a bench on the ice for crying outloud.

We are now suggesting the GM, who to my knowledge has never coached a game in his life, come down and coach the team?

Not only does it make zero practical sense, could you possibly imagine the firestorm that would ensure about Burke and how he's so arrogant and how dysfunctional he and the Leafs are that he has to take over as coach?

Have him go into the room and yell for 10 minutes before every game, but he's not going to become the coach.
