Luongo

DarrenDreger: As expected, the Leafs and Canucks had late discussions, prior to deadline on Luongo trade, but obviously couldn't reach agreement. #TSN

At this point I have a hard time to believe Dreger anything with regards to Luongo saga

He is trying to justify his previous fabrications

It's really hard not to like Luongo, he is refreshingly honest and has a good sense of humour, I hope they can work something out for him in the summer, be it to the Leafs or elsewhere, he deserves to play.

You guys are calling Dreger out for saying the exact same thing that every hockey 'mind' has been saying for the past 6 months? Makes no sense.

Agreed. Although I'd emphasize the elsewhere.

Watching the Gillis interview on TSN makes me hate him and the whole Vancouver organization that much more. :o

This guys still in denial about getting a hockey deal for Luo.

TSN is saying that the Leafs offer was basically that they'd take his contract for nothing.

So, basically, Nonis was willing to overpay at the deadline for goaltending.

Good one.

Is it wrong to think that I had more faith in Nonis not overpaying at all vs what Burke might have done? I personally think Burke would have Lou in a leafs sweater by now - and actually given an good asset in return

Agreed. I feel bad for the guy. Can't they mutually agree to terminate the contract?

Was that old CBA? I swore that happened once.

There are very limited circumstances where that can happen, and I don't think Luongo qualifies for them. It can basically only happen for minor league guys near the end of their contracts that are leaving for Europe.

Mike Gillis, you can have my offer now if you want.  My offer is this..nothing.  And we'd appreciate it if you'd pick up part of Luongo's contract for him to play for us.

Mike Gillis is going to wake up in bed next to the bloody corpse of Derek Roy.
