Luongo

TSN is saying that the Leafs offer was basically that they'd take his contract for nothing.

So, basically, Nonis was willing to overpay at the deadline for goaltending.

So can we maybe all agree from here on in that any sort of "The Canucks say there are 4 teams involved" report is almost certain bullplop leaked by the Canucks?

There's no way they keep him if they have a deal on the table.

At most, those 4 teams said they'd take him for free and Gillis still thinks he can actually get an asset - because, as we all know, he's insane.

Bang on.  If Nonis isn't demanding VAN eat major portions of the contract, he's crazy.  This is rather disturbing, actually.

Bravo, correct approach, why to waste third or whatever rounder

TSNBobMcKenzie: Roberto Luongo has not been traded. He remains a Canuck. #tradecentre

Prediction: The day after VAN bows out (early) from the playoffs, Gillis is canned and management announces they'll buy out Luongo.

Sounds more feasible than most of BS going around today.

"Our offer is nothing and we expect change back."

Doug Maclean just brought up a good point(barf) and it may be the only hope Gillis has to saving his job.

If Chicago or the Leafs goalies blow it in the 1st round of the playoffs, does that make Luongo more attractive in the summer?

Mike Gillis, you can have my offer now if you want.  My offer is this..nothing.  And we'd appreciate it if you'd pick up part of Luongo's contract for him to play for us.

That depends on what happens with Miller, Bryzgalov, Backstrom, etc.

Or Smith for that matter...

Sidenote: Let's hope that the GM's in this league are smart enough to allow Bryzgalov to go back to Russia.

Yeah. Really don't get what Gillis is doing here. He must have some assurance from ownership that they are prepared to buy out Luongo if need be. If not, you have to believe Gillis is almost finished digging out his final resting spot.

DarrenDreger: As expected, the Leafs and Canucks had late discussions, prior to deadline on Luongo trade, but obviously couldn't reach agreement. #TSN

Luongo speaking and I don't know why, but I laughed when the reporters are calling him the backup. I think I laughed harder when Lou said his contract sucks.  ;D
