Maple Leafs are better, but are they a playoff team?

And the buds keep on rolling, bring on the Jets. oh ya ... maybe while were riding the jets to two more pts we can look down and see the sens in there free fall. ;D

Their free fall should continue for a while.  They play the Blues tonight and after that the Preds.  In all honesty though, I would like to see the Jets take the SouthEast, the Leafs in the top 8, around 5th and the turds squeeking in 8th.  The more Canadian teams in the playoffs, the better.

YES Sticky Tape, I thought he looked familiar....hopefully tonight the Buds don't suffer any "jet lag" - and Kessel notches his 30th.  Do you know how long it's been since they've been in a playoff position this late in the season?  I love it.

Ottawa seems to be chugging along, but are they deep enough if they run into injuries and how long is their goalie tandem able to keep up with their weak defence. I know they can score from the blue line but they let in alot of goals. I don't follow the sens so I really don't know what kind of depth they have. McLean really has them believing right now.

Ottawa seems like a confident team right now, but, they've been pretty streaky so far this season. They're a hard team to judge. I do get the feeling that they're due for another losing streak/rough stretch.

At the same time the Leafs aren't exactly world beaters. They're playing well right now but we're in nearly the same boat as Ottawa.

I think the Leafs are actually a rung or two above Ottawa on the "fast track rebuild" ladder.

You can't be serious Red?

In what sense of the word serious do you mean?

As in you seriously need to change your name to GreenLeaf. :p

You've used that one before. Its getting old. I said the two teams were close. Ottawa is by no means ahead of Toronto in their rebuild. Toronto is farther along.

And I'll probably keep using it until you embrace it - you're out to lunch

MF...Looking at Ottawa's current slide, do you still think their rebuild is further along than that of the Leafs?

Ottawa is still clinging to Alfredsson and doesn't have a goaltending tandem.  A couple of real challenges for a GM to fix.

Hmmm....an Ontario team that's clinging to an aging Swedish captain, with poor goaltending?  That is soooo 2009.  However, they (Ottawa) do have the Giggler up front and that Karlsson kid looks "not too shabois".

According to sportsclubstats.com....

Leafs odds of making the playoffs if they go:
  • 12-9-3 = 83.7%
  • 11-11-2 = 36.2%
Those 3 points difference are worth 15.8% each.  These games are getting critical.

'Nerve-wrackingly' critical!

Well there are only 24 games left so yeah, they're all important.

All games from here on in are important, but this 4-game home stand is especially so.  Anything less than 6 points will be tough to take.
