Marlies Playoff Thread 2013

I know the Leafs send down Hamilton at the trade deadline so he'd be eligible for the Marlies playoff run, and then they immediately recalled him.

They did. Any players on the AHL roster at the NHL deadline was eligible to be put on the playoff roster.

The clear-day list was actually eliminated. I think the same basic rules apply now, but there just isn't a limit to how many players are eligible to play.

What are the basic rules??

If you were on the AHL roster at the trade deadline, you're eligible for the playoffs...

I'm off the nights of Game 6 and 7 if this series gets that far. Hopefully it does so I can get to a game.

Anyone notice Greg Scott's 7 goals in 5 playoff games?  I wonder if '88 Scott RW and '91 D'Amigo LW will get a shot on the big club next year?

Weren't we asking this exact same question last year? The short answer is, probably not. Realistically they're both career AHLers. D'Amigo is still young so maybe it's a little early to write him off, but he's probably not even on the Leafs radar right now.

And the 24yr old Greg Scott is an old man??

Remind me... how old was Frattin the first year he played more than one game?

THe difference is that, the first year Frattin got more than one game was also his first season as a professional hockey player. Scott's been a pro for a few seasons now. Also, Frattin was close to a point a game in his regular season stints with the Marlies. Scott has not been at that level. He's had a great playoff run, but, right now, it's really just that - a great playoff run. He needs to show he can play at that level during the regular season as well before he gets considered for the big club.

Time to reve up this thread, how many Leafs will now be Marlies..asked this before...no concise answers

The only players on the Leafs roster that are eligible for the AHL playoffs are Colborne, Hamilton and Holzer.

Marlies currently trail Grand Rapids 2-1. Game 4 is tonight and 5 on Saturday. The winner of this series will now have home ice in the Western Conference final as the #5 seed OKC Barons eliminated the #1 seed Texas Stars last night. The Barons won that series 4 games to 1.

Something will likely get done, but there's a chance that they play next season without an AHL affiliate and have their prospects just scattered across the league. Which would be hilarious and should have Gillis fired instantly.
