Marlies Talk

Kadri with 3 goals in 2 games including only goal of game in the Owuya shutout.

And the winner today.

It was a sick goal.  Drove down the right side, cut in around behind the d-man, cut through the crease and stuffed it in the far side, giving the goalie a bit of a shot on the way past too.

Also noticed that Korbinian Holzer was an absolute rock on defense.  Wow was I ever impressed with his game.  We sat in the Marlies end and I watched him for two periods... just as solid as solid can be. Plays it simple, controlled and poised. Able to retrieve pucks and get the quick pass or clear out of the zone with ease.  Very impressed.

Mikus plays a pretty similar, simple style as well. Both are guys I'd like to see in the NHL on a more regular basis soon.

Does anyone know of any sites that have links to streaming of Marlies games?  I'd like to be able to watch their (hopefully long and successful) play-off run.

His 20pts are not too shabby either.
I also like the other German import - Marcel Mueller, if given enough time he could develop into very solid player like Holmstrom of Red Wings.
In general, lots of Marlies really encouraging to follow. I really want them to win it all, would be fantastic to have the Calder Cup in Toronto.

Mueller looks real good as well just doesn't seem to have the hands in close to finish at a high enough level.  Reminds me a bit of Johan Franzen the way he picks up the puck and just drives to the net with abondon, minus the high end skill to produce those numbers.

More of a donkey than a mule?  :)

I believe it will come, I just wish the Leafs will be patient with him the same way the Red Wings were with Franzen/Holmstrom.

It took Franzen a little while for his hands to catch up to the rest of him, maybe the same will happen with Mueller. I doubt he becomes a 25+ goal guy like Franzen, but, with the way he goes to the net, with the right team and system, he could become a ~20ish goal guy that throws the opposition goalies off their games - just like Holmstrom.

Deschamps, Scott and Mueller have had a nice couple of games.
Rynnas with back to back wins (4-2, 3-2) making 33 saves in each game.
Kadri up to 18 goals in 47 games.
Gregg Scott has 21 (73 games)
Top scorer is Hamilton with 25.

Gotta say, for a fairly balanced but relatively low scoring team, Kadri's totals are pretty good.

Also, Marlies sit 2nd overall with 95 points  :o

It'll be an interesting fall: I'd like to see some updated scouting reports on Mueller and Holzer but Gyspbers as well who seems to have flown under the radar.

The Marlies probably won't know who they will face in the 1st round until the end of the regular season on Sunday. Right now, there are 7 teams fighting for the last 4 spots. They are separated by only 2 points.

Sondre Olden has been released from his ATO contract with the Toronto Marlies #Marlies

Not sure if that means anything whatsoever.

Pretty sure the Marlies had well over 30 players on their roster, so it might have just been a case of Olden not really getting any practice time and so they cut him loose.

It's the last day of the regular season and the Marlies still do not know who they will face in the 1st round of the Calder Cup playoffs. Only the top 4 spots have been locked in in the Western Conference. 5 teams are in a fight for the bottom 4 spots, although Rochester seems to have a spot locked up. It will be either Rochester, Milwaukee, San Antonio, Charlotte, or Houston.
