McElhinney and Pickard both claimed off waivers

You guys talking about great Leafs goalies and forgot Sebastian Centomo? Shame on you

Took a little while longer than we thought, but Pickard is back on waivers. If the Leafs claim him, and are the only team to claim him, they can send him directly to the Marlies. Considering his 0.863 Sv% and 4.01 GAA in 11 games, I doubt any NHL team is going to give him a shot right now. The Marlies desperately need him though as, statistically speaking, all their goalies suck.

Anyone know where they're at for contracts?

Only 44, 45 when/if Nylander signs. Losing Pickard, McBackup, and Carrick* on waivers opened up a lot of room there.

*edit: Carrick was traded of course, but we didn't take a contract back

Well I guess McBackup is sticking around in Carolina. Not sure what the Canes are gonna do with a McElhinney/Mrazek goalie duo but good luck I guess.

Good for Picks keeping an NHL gig going.

Arizona though.

Not really that bad of a place to be a backup and hang out.  Even if you make it too the minors not a bad gig.
I am back in AZ now and love the place, good for him, and their AHL team the Roadrunners are just down the Highway in Tucson.

Me too and AZ generally protects their goalies better than most.

And would he have to clear waivers to be sent down to the AHL? My understanding is yes.

Yes to waivers, I meant on the chance he poops the bed again and actually clears.

I think the Leafs will still try to grab him for the Marlies

So do I, I think that's AZ's backup plan so they don't have $800K in the minors.
