Nothing amuses quite like TSN.ca comments. They love themselves some +/-.

But just look at that plus minus... he's -12!

Marchand signs with Boston, 2yrs/5M 2.5 cap.

Yeah, that sounds about right. He still has to show he can repeat his success from last season and that his playoff run wasn't just another flash in the pan type situation.

I can't believe the Tyler Myers deal.  7 years $38.5 mil with a $10 m signing bonus July 1 2012. Yowza. The dough is flying in Buffalo.

I wonder if he cares much to be the best player he can when he doesn't really have to earn anything.

Yup. Their new owner certainly likes to throw the cash around. Not sure he's a great proponent of actually thinking ahead, though.

As for the deal - if Myers can show last season was just a sophomore slump and not an indication of the league catching up to him or being another player to have a strong rookie season and not really progress much, it's a fair deal for Buffalo. If he improves more than just nominally, it has potential to be a bit of a steal - depending on how things shake out with the new CBA and such.

Could Buffalo be the new Islanders? Now waiting on a Ryan Miller Lifetime extension.......

It's not that surprising. He's already a top pairing D-man with the potential to be a franchise one... and they now have him for 8 more years through the prime of his career.

Just because you have good offensive numbers doesn't make you a top pairing defenseman. He was awful defensively last year.

Awful is probably an overstatement. He struggled at the beginning of the year, like a lot of second year guys, but rebounded in the second half and I thought he was very good in the playoffs.

Teemu back with ducks for another season @ 4M.

For the past couple years, I've avoided him in pools due to his age... and each of those years, he's proven me a meat-head.

I know the feeling...him and Iginla....25-30+G are all but assured, yet I still hesitate.

Did he have a bad stretch to start the season? Sure. Was he awful defensively? Not even close.
