NHL WC 2014 - Leafs @ Wings - Jan. 1st, 1:00pm - CBC, SN 590

It's pretty silly considering I will be watching on TV but I'm pretty excited about the game. The hype is working. I would prefer it if they replaced the boards with snow banks. Maybe replace Phaneuf with a tree.

Don't think Boston would lend Chara.

Haha, well Felix sucked, but Cujo and Palmateer were great.

I know they all weren't trying much, but man, watching guys like Clark, Yzerman, Gilmour, etc... struggle to go up and down the ice makes me thiink I'm freakin' OLD.

Kaberle's playing in the Czech league. His team may not have let him participate. I imagine the Leafs asked him about it, though.

Ah, right. I forgot he was still playing.

Federov was playing in the Spengler Cup 4 days ago.

He's the CSKA GM and I think only played to boost numbers in the Spengler Cup (and probably get himself in shape for the alumni game!)

I'm really looking forward to this today. I don't think you can read much into the result as conditions make it a bit more of a lottery but it should be a great event.

That was great watching the 2nd Alumni game.  What a joy to watch some of my favourites from the 90's and early 2000's.  Tucker, Corson, Roberts, Cujo, Gilmour, Clark, Potvin, Domi...etc.  Too bad Sundin wasn't there.

And it reminded me why I liked watching hockey back in those days...it's because I liked the players.  They were not only good but also had great personalities.  Or were likeable in some manner.  Watching Palmateer and guys like Lanny also showed me that earlier Leafs eras (that I didn't get a chance to watch) were also full of characters.

Today's Leafs are so difficult to like.  I can't think of a single Leaf that I like or think is a good guy.  Maybe Lupul or Bernier.

And to me that's the scariest notion, not that the Leafs suck, but that the Leafs have become boring and dull and unlikeable.  sheesh

Of course that could be a function of your own age.

McCabe!!!

I booed him.  Why?  Because it made as much sense as when he was run out of town.

Fantastic atmosphere with the snow and everything but this is going to be some brutal hockey.

I just hope nobody gets injured due to ice conditions.

Today may be a good day to shoot from anywhere with the low visibility.

GO LEAFS GO!

If the talking heads are right and the longer/extra stoppages lead to more ice time for Datsyuk and Zetterberg, that could be a disaster for the Leafs. It almost certainly means more ice time for McClement's line and that means a severe disruption to whatever offensive flow the Leafs might be able to get going.

CBC talking like Tim Gleason is about to be moved.  Goodbye Liles + overpayment in form of prospect.  Hello cap hell.
