Can we figure out how to get Kane in the deal too since he's getting unfairly blamed as well? :)

They'd have to take Clarkson back to make the cap work, but I guess I'd be alright with that. You know, if we have to.

Hmmm I dunno. Let me make a few phone calls.. just a sec here we go:

Winnipeg has seen enough but do the Leafs have the right stuff to land the rough and tough Big Buff?

Condition of trade should be he has to spend the Olympic break at Gary Roberts' gym.

All summer, every summer. An in shape Byfuglien is a great addition. The more recent version, I'm much less interested in. He's about half a step too slow right now.

He apparently came to camp in very good shape season. I wonder if Underhill could help him at all with his skating. In general though I think the comments about Buff's shape are overblown. Maybe last season he had some troubles with conditioning but coming off the lockout he wouldn't have been the only one. But in this day and age you don't really see overweight players play at the level Buff has the past few years.

I was just going to post that. For Kane or Ladd. I had this very conversation at the coffee shop this morning with another die-hard.

First, I don't think there's really any chance the Jets trade Ladd.

Second, Reimer's the biggest trading chip this team has and he offers Nonis a big opportunity to fix a problem on this team. So if he's being traded I would prefer to see him moved to address a team weakness (centre and defence) not a strength. We have enough salary tied up in our wings already.

True, unless one parted with some wing depth and cap hit in another deal to shore up those areas.

I thought that was a given, I guess I should have been more specific. Raymond would have to go and maybe Lupul would have to play the right side, as unpopular as that is.

Well, sure, but I was thinking more of a bold move ( this isn't an endorsement particularly either ) like Lupul for a centre/defenceman if Kane was coming in or some such.

I really like the idea of Raymond McClement D'Amigo 4th line, like a lot... replace Raymond with Komarov next year...

I think that's a little too soft of a 4th line...not grindy enough.

Komarov would improve that though.

It is a little soft but there's the added bonus of speed and scoring, which could catch teams off guard. The other one that could be good there too next year is Biggs.

If you didn't read twitter... Nonis gives an update on a variety of topics.

"Well I think it's easy to say, but Naz is having a decent year. What has happened to him is last year he was playing in the two or three hole most season, by doing that he was playing against team's second or third lines primarily. This year because of injury we put Naz in a situation that was difficult for him. He's still a young guy, there's no denying his skill-set and ability. We're not disappointed with him, he's a very skilled player and we need him to perform down the stretch.

...

There's a lot of interest in Nazem Kadri and would we be willing to trade him? Yes! We'd be willing to trade him but there's a big difference between willing to and trying to. We're not trying to move him. I would expect the panel [on TSN] is wrong. I'm not anywhere near trading Nazem Kadri"

Hard to believe anything a GM says to the media, especially close to trade deadline. Nonis has cushioned himself nicely here for either eventuality. My guess is its 50/50 Kadri's dealt.

I doubt it. I'd put it closer to 5/95.

Against, I'm assuming?

Assuming Komarov came back, he and D'Amigo might be able to draw some penalties playing together.

The only problem is, Raymond will command about 3 million next season I think, so having that kind of hit on the 4th line is rather silly IMO.

The other thing is that Komarov was unhappy with his offer, so I would think it would take 2-3 million to get him back to the Leafs anyhow. Maybe I'm wrong, but he believes that he can play on the 2nd or 3rd line I think, so getting him to accept 1.75 I think would be really hard.

Biggs is the answer I think. Komarov is the wish.

I'm not 100% sure that Komarov left for the money. He left because he wanted more playing time going into an Olympic year. He wanted more exposure.

I think him doing that is kind of accepting to the role he's suited for in the NHL
