3-0 Flames after 1...I'll be surprised if Auld returns to the net to start the 2nd - not a great period for him. To be fair I don't think there has been a game other than his 1 win where he hasn't been awful. He's big, he's bald, he's Alex Auld.

I love these idiots talking about if the Sens are going to trade Alfie at the deadline. Only May seems to be aware of the NHL standings.

In all honesty, there's a good chance the standings aren't what will hold the Sens back on trading Alfredsson - they could very well be a fair ways out of 8th by the deadline (though, I'll admit, it doesn't look like they will be, as they'll probably still be there with the bubble teams). It's the fact that he still has one more year on his contract, and it's a 35+ deal that will stop them, as it means they may not get the value they'd like for him.

Good push back period, 3-2 Flames heading into the 3rd.

Zibanejad had a goal and an assist tonight to bring his numbers to 3G 1A in 4 games.

Yeah. Plus he's said countless times his intention on retiring here, and Melnyk seems pretty bent on keeping it that way. He's not going anywhere - even if we're well out of it at the deadline which is always a possibility.

Karlsson!

ADD - The way the yield from last summer's draft is going there's less pressure to move any more bodies out for picks.

Well, just because there appears to be some prospect depth, doesn't mean you shouldn't add to and try to improve it, especially with the type of return Alfredsson could conceivably bring in. I expect they'll listen to offers for him over the next 18 months, but, I doubt they hear anything they really like until at least the summer - though, like you said, a deal is unlikely, considering his stance and Melnyk being Melnyk.

It's still 50/50 if he's even going to play next year.
