2011/2012 Injury Thread

Even with Staal out for 4-6 weeks, I'd still be inclined to ask Pittsburgh about him. Perhaps they'd be looking for immediate help in exchange. That is if they're still hoping to make the dance.

I wouldn't be trading away some of the Leafs' depth for an injured player, since they also want to make the dance and, as we've seen this season, injuries can easily pile up.

We've got some depth to spare... and I don't know if you would need to give a to sell the farm for Staal right now anyway... Also, it would be my hope Stall could still help us towards the end of the season and into the playoffs.

Imagine the possibility of 3 of our centers being Colborne, Staal, ans Steckel next year? That's some impressive size down the middle! Burke did comment he wants to bump up the size of our forward group the other day.

Anyway, just dreaming...

Penguins' Staal, Neal to miss significant time with injuries: Go to TSN.ca for details. #TSN bit.ly/zxTlco

I've heard  4-6 weeks for Staal (knee) and "weeks" for Neal (broken foot.) So, no Crosby, Letang, Staal, or Neal for huge chunks of the rest of the season (and maybe one or two for the entire duration.) Not much left there... Ouch.

They've lost 4 in a row - 6 of 10 since Crosby went out, dropped to 8th in the conference . . . if they lose Malkin (who has been injury prone and already hurt once this season), they're done - and, I mean like top 10 pick type done.

Even with Staal out for 4-6 weeks, I'd still be inclined to ask Pittsburgh about him. Perhaps they'd be looking for immediate help in exchange. That is if they're still hoping to make the dance.

With Crosby's uncertainly though, Staal suddenly becomes far more valuable to their organization as he has a spot in their top 6.  He's nowhere near Crosby/Malkin good, but he's likely a 60-ish point 2nd line centre if given more offensive-minded ES-TOI.

That happened to me once when I was in university.  I think I was stressed out studying for finals, I got up one morning, sat down to have breakfast and immediately I had this unbelievable pain in my back.  I could barely move my neck or twist without being in serious pain.  I actually wrote my exam in excruciating pain, then went immediately to a chiropractor.  He made me feel better right off, but it took a few days before I was back to normal.

Penguins finally catch an injury break as James Neals injury not as bad as originally feared. He's good to go...or so he says.

Rick DiPietro can't catch a break. While on injured reserve for a groin problem, he is now going to miss the rest of the season because he needs surgery for a sports hernia.

That's what, 5 injuries for him since he signed that 15 year contract? He's becoming the poster boy against offering deals that long.

Mike Green is having a tough spell with injuries.

He only played 49 games last year and has 10 games this season, now he he expected to miss another 4-6 weeks to recover from surgery for an abdominal injury.
