Agree...This should be 1-1 at worst. 2nd goal between the wickets and third he lost the puck and went to the far post giving Hyman the whole side. I like Sammy but hes struggling tonight.
Not laying it in him for the 1st goal but his left leg is behind the goal line. Overlaying the Drai shot
 
Nylander off to the races on that Hyman goal. Expecting what? A breakaway pass, I guess. But in the process completely abandoned defensive position. That is seriously disappointing.
 
Really not liking their response in the second period.  Not really generating much of anything
 
I don't know what's worse, losing to this sad sack team, or losing the first game after getting the surge of players.  Thought they'd be 'all-in'.

McDavid is far better. last year I told some Oiler fan buddies the gap wasn't that far off but there's no comparison. Biggest thing for me is McDavid barely takes shifts off where Matthews takes games off. Night and day between the two.

Sad part is Oilers problem is defence. They would be fighting for Bedard without #97. Think Leaf stars would be able to exploit that but haven';t shown up. After one of their best games in Seattle disappointing tonight.
