Briere is money in the playoffs eh. What a player

One of the best clutch performers in the league.  Good things do come in small packages!

I still think he's a weasel.

Why?

Mainly his blatant diving, although I admit he's nowhere near as bad as he used to be, but every now and then...

Also just little things, like him shaking his head in disagreement after his obvious kick-in goal was disallowed. None of this changes the fact he's got a lot of talent and a penchant for playoff heroics. I just don't like him and I doubt I ever will.

Fair enough - hes a Sens killer too.

In an interview after the game he said he wasn't really sure how he would have been able to kick the puck into the net, but they then showed him a replay immediately after and kind of laughed and agreed with the refs call. I'll cut him some slack for being disappointed a goal in overtime of a playoff game was called off.

That blows my mind that he could not know he kicked it in, who's he trying to kid?  It's not as if he felt it touch his stick.

He didn't really even make a serious attempt at it with his stick.

After watching it a few times it looked like he was kinda trying for a redirect and it turned into a kick. It happens so fast though I don't think there is much time to plan what you are going to do. Just have try to get it on net, if Marty touches it on the way in it's a goal.

No, it isn't. Even if it goes off a player on the other team, if the puck is propelled into the net by a kick, it's no goal.

With the NHL, you never really know though ;)

I've seen a puck kicked from behind the net bouce off a goalie pad and go in and count.

Behind the net is kind of a grey area for some officials, because it wasn't kicked towards the net - though, the wrong call was made if the goal stood - but, from out in front, the rules are pretty clear on it.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26338

49.2 Goals - Kicking the puck shall be permitted in all zones. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who uses a distinct kicking motion to propel the puck into the net. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who kicks a puck that deflects into the net off any player, goalkeeper or official.

Unless the puck hits a stick belonging to someone other than the goalie, it's no goal.

It's 4-1 Devils and Bryzgalov has been pulled.

I was waiting for that.  Checked the box score a little while ago, and Jersey was outshooting the Flyers 25-11, but down 1-0.  Figured Bryz was due to implode.

You got in there quick, thought I edited it in time.  I was really following along through Twitter, and I gather he was pulled for the extra-attacker, not for Bobrovsky.

But by that time the game was over anyways.

Yup. 4th goal was a seeing eye bouncer into the empty net while New Jersey was on the PK.

Just read the recap and it sounds like Bryzgalov kept the Flyers in the game in the 2nd, when they didn't even get a shot on Marty until less than 2 minutes left.

Nonetheless, this counts as a Flyer collapse, and for that I rejoice.

Bryzgalov actually was the only one to show up. Most of the goals were pretty good. They really mailed in the game much like game 4 vs the Pens.
Another problem was the dump in's. As you know Marty is the best in the league at handling the puck. If the Flyers dump and can't get to the puck before Marty shoots it out this is the result.

I've had this game on while watching the Marlies, catching the highlights and such, surprised how well the Devils are playing the Flyers.
